I was diagnosed with depression last year.

I've been up and down, but, the last week or two, I've been really, really down.

Has anyone else felt really bad the last few weeks?
Any of those from Scotland?

Any idea?

Is it just me? Or could there be something else happening?

(FYI - I don't believe fully that something else is happening, I'm just intrigued as to what other people think...)

I'm 19, and have suffered a lot in my life.

I'm sorry you have suffered.

I certainly don't mean to minimize it but, in practical terms, one must start somewhere. The longest journey starts with just one step.

You can't change your past, but you can change your future. I urge you to focus on happy thoughts and avoid reflecting too much on sad things or unhappy times.

Maybe start a journal. Each day write down one unhappy feeling you are experiencing - just to get it out in the open - but also write down two or three happy things that happen, even if they are silly or small things.

At a low point in my life I read Rick Warren's "A Purpose Driven Life" it helped me immensely by explaining the importance of realizing that my life's journey is not all about me or my feelings. Maybe it can help you too.

There are also many wonderful threads on ATS that may be of use to you in the Psychology, Philosophy & Metaphysics forum, in particular Skyfloating's "Law of Attraction" thread.

I hope this helps you take the first step on a happier course.

Excellent tip. You've just proven why thousands of therapists should not have their jobs!

lol.

No, but seriously I have been clinically diagnosed with major depression and it is extremely difficulty to deal with but I have found the key to it is just to go outside and be happy. Put "I feel pretty" on the Ipod and hug passers-by . lol.

It takes a lot to feel sad because you are trying to build a house of misery with rubbles of the past. Happiness just need fresh bricks of possibilities.
