Yep looks exactly like that, but it had one big exhaust.

Maybe its possibly a secret craft?
It was very silent but i saw the glow of the exhaust with a thin streak of black smoke.

Eurofighter Typhoon, or Rafale perhaps?

I doubt it would be a secret plane flying right above you in broad site. They tend to do that at Woomera, Australia, or Area 51.

Typhoon

Vulcan

Both were flying this weekend as it was Southport Airshow, which is generally the last show of the "fair weather" season.

The Vulcan is huge, and is a real traffic stopper when you see it at low level. I remember seeing one do a low flypast over Crewe when I was about 10 years old, and was convinced it was some kind of spaceship at the time

I also saw a Vulcan at an airshow when I was about 10, it was phenomenal.

The noise when the jets were pointed towards you was incredible, so if this thing was quiet it wouldn't be the Vulcan.

The only remaining possibilty is the North-American XB-70 Valkyrie.
Thats what it sounds like to me.

Cant we work out this crafts possible destination? There are bound to be plenty of aircraft spotters in the area who might be able to shed some light on this.Im dying to find out what it was.

My thought was the Valkyrie, but they don't fly anymore.

Neither do these

Concordski - TU144

BUT

What about a Saab Viggen, double delta wing with single angine and afterburner

It looked very much like the first picture you gave but you said they dont fly anymore?

The first thing my dad said when he saw it was " Its concord!"
But then we looked closer and it was too slow to be concord and too low.

Wind can cause that. Especially if it's at a higher speed up near the aircraft. Nothing fancy, it just shifts the noise to one side a bit.

I'm over in Malvern not too far from you. There's been a few night time military excercises over the past few weeks as some military jets, probably Harriers have been buzzing around the Malvern Hills. There was also a flight of 5 VC10's and 5 C17's from RAF Brize Norton heading north last Sunday i think. Each C17 was proceeded by a VC10 flying directly in front as a pair. Each 2 aircraft were spaced about 10 minutes apart.

There have been a few hushed up sightings in the local community here over the years, the most prominent being of an unidentified aircraft sighted flying along the River Severn towards Upton on Severn. 2 RAF Tornado aircraft were then seen flying very fast and very low towards this craft which accellerated away at incredible high speed disappearing off toward's Bredon. The following evening an airship was seen flying along the same flight path and a photo shown in the local press. This was not the craft that was seen by many the previous day.

As for your sighting, hope you can determine what is was

That would have been my first thought to but the OP claims it was following a propeller driven aircraft which could be heard.

Thanks for that info. This is all interesting stuff.

Last year someone placed a TU-144 Russian SST. for sale on Ebay
from the ground it would have looked like this but it should have been loud, very loud!

The OP said it was black and accompanied by a small propellor type.

Thinking slightly laterally. BAE Systems had a single prototype Typhoon, ZH588, that is painted black and was retained for development work and research projects. At the same time Warton is developing the Herti, a small prop driven UAV, against which the Typhoon would look huge, especially if one has mistaken the Herti for a manned plane and your perspective has been thrown out by the mistake. ZH588 was retired to a museum recently but I think this may offer an explanation.

That would seem the most logical explanation to me, that one craft was very small so it made the other look very much larger than it actually was. Still, a Typhoon or any other known jet should still make quite a racket, and would stall at low speed anyways.

Perhaps it was a large airship like the ones that Boeing has been experimenting with here in the US.

Could it have been any of these objects:

I've been seeing some weird aircraft over the last few weeks up here in Scotland. Also been military choppers flying round almost everyday!

The Vulcan bomber did a low fly-by at Wellsbourne at the end of the flying season where they house a grounded Vulcan. They use the fly-by to take pics of it flying over the grounded aircraft. I think that this might be what your saw as I'm in worcestershire it was spotted on its way to and from wellsbourne.
