I just want to mention, Portishead is Trip-hop. Trip-hop is when hip-hop first went to England but instead of black people or wiggers just copying it, gloomy suburban white folk took it and made it something original.

Anyways, I'm here to contribute some Ott. Ott can be described as psychedelic ambient dub...which is essentially chill out music.

Not even remotely true...

England had hip-Hop back in the early 80's.... and continued to have throughout the "Trip-Hop" boom in the early-mid nineties..

In fact Massive Attack were one of the first Trip-Hop groups (If not the first) and here is a Pic of them Circa 1990-1 when Blue lines was released, Often cited as the blue-print for the Trip-Hop genre.

look at the gloomy white folks... :shk:

Although Shara Nelson (The woman) was not really part of the group.

Trip-Hop and Hip-Hop are two completely separate types of music and to say that Trip-Hop is "gloomy white peoples" version of Hip-Hop is just completely misinformed and wrong.

Trip hop gained notice via popular artists such as Massive Attack, Bonobo, Portishead, Tricky, Björk, Moloko, Thievery Corporation, Lamb, Sneaker Pimps, Faithless, Emilíana Torrini, Pati Yang, Amon Tobin, and rock-influenced sound groups such as Ruby, Bristol's band Ilya, California's DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, UNKLE, and the UK's Gorillaz, Howie B., Morcheeba, originating from Hythe in Kent, Londoners Glideascope, New York's Bowery Electric, and Seattle's Anomie Belle are also often associated with this sound. Massive Attack's debut album Blue Lines, is seen as the "blueprint" for the genre. Various American hip hop artists and albums have been influenced by trip hop. Examples include artists Cannibal Ox, Mos Def, DJ Two14, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and producers Dan The Automator and Madlib

Anyway, My fav Massive Attack track.

Wow. That was really...slow

but thanks! :-)

things I've learned today:

1. you don't eat real food for dinner over there
2. you don't even call it dinner - like normal people
3. y'all are kinda fussy
4. you could set your watch by blups' tea time

but, that was chilled

so is this - sorta:

(my apologies to the English - all in good fun)
