I stopped reading on page 7 because I noticed a trend. One that goes beyond this thread, this site, and the internet altogether.... Why is it that there seem's to be this idea, that people who hate Obama, loved Bush? W-T-F???????

I can't speak for everyone, but I hate them both. I have hated every president since I have been old enough to know the deal... that'd be since Clinton. I know, I'm a youngin'. But old enough to realize that every Presidential election, people are deciding between the LESSER of two evils.

Excuse me, but this is the United States of America. Why are we stuck between choosing a douchebag, or a dumbass douchebag when choosing the LEADER of this country??

"Oh well, nobody else ran for office!" Bull, look at Ron Paul, people are out there, GOOD people who want the job. They just don't have the funds to pay off the media to black out the competition.

Not to mention the corporations that make "campaign contributions"... In my opinion that should be illegal. Take wall street and corporations out of our government, then and only then will we be able to start anew and make this country what it was supposed to be.

And people wonder why we have a problem in America.

Sorry for getting off topic, but with all this crap being spewed about Obama haters being Bush lovers I felt it needed to be said.

Peace.

Sheesh.. America is just getting freakier and freakier each day! This kind of crap only comes about when you mix ignorance and fundamentalism. Glad it's not happening in my country!

I have never seen a president worshipped so much. Are there any other Presidents who were treated like a god?

Wow, that woman singing was more disturbing than what Obama wasn't doing. She slaughtered our anthem.

That means you stopped about 9 pages short of where I wrote this among other things:

These are polarizing times by design. We are being played one against the other so that the illusion of two parties is maintained and our combined strength is never realized. - Hemisphere

I also mentioned in the same post that we have been played dating back to Eisenhower and likely further. It's good to see you are thinking along these lines. When was the last third party candidate that had a legitimate chance? I can't remember.

Of course we know of Ron Paul, just count the ATS threads on him. There was also Bob Barr, Libertarian Party.

"They just don't have the funds to pay off the media to black out the competition." - OMCM

That's a big part of it! They've also been crippled by legislation that keeps them off ballots. Like we would be too confused and burdened by selecting between more than two candidates.

First woman president, first gay president, first lesbian president etc etc.......It has the potential to be never ending...It must make you want to elect a white hetrosexual male next just to MAKE IT ALL STOP!!!!!

Well, kinda been thinking the same thing myself. I wonder how much truth is in that? That Democrats and Independents (myself), get so sick of hearing the Republicans that we just say "WTF EVER" have it your way. The problem with that is they keep screwing things up.

I know in my area I am actually fearful to show my support for a public health option in public. Both my husband and I were talking about putting a sticker on our vehicles, but decided not to from fear that someone would respond by doing something to our vehicles.

It is sad, when someone feels fear to show their support for something because of possible violence towards them.

And again, for those of you who are all up in arms over a few children singing a song about the first black president, during black history month, find my previous postings where I talk about a situation in my child's elementary a couple of years ago. The music teacher had not just a few children, but a whole grade do a music program which involved singing songs about at the time president Bush, past presidents and the military.

All the children wore red, white and blue and sang and danced. It sure did not make national news, and being my area is heavily republican, everyone was smiling and happy through out the whole program. Not once did anyone ever say "OMG OUR CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE SINGING ABOUT THE PRESIDENT".

Hypocrisy is just seeping all over this thread.

Harm None

Why didn't you say it? Why didn't you put a stop to your children's participation in such a program?

You bring up past stupidity as if it somehow justifies present stupidity. I don't get that argument.

You know.... I'm getting pretty damned sick of everyone being up in arms on both sides of the fence. Republicans - OMG they are praising him because he is a "black" president. Democrats - OMG! The Republicans don't like it.

Take race and color out of the mix. The schools IMHO should not be taking advantage of impressionable young minds by these songs. They are not giving the kids much chance to make a choice when they grow up. These public teachers are influencing our kids to grow up one way when America is all about freedom to choose.

Freedom to choose who you want to vote for.

Freedom to choose whether you're bi, straight, or gay.

Freedom to choose what car you want to drive.

Both sides, get over it! He's black, so what. He's Democrat, so what. Republicans are calling us racist, so what.

The end.

Because, just like this issue, it was NOT A BIG DEAL. It did not harm nor indoctrinate my child into being a big Bush worshiper.

What it did do was give my child enjoyment of participating with his class in a music program.

I asked my child about it last night, basically he does not even much remember the program other than the enjoyment of singing and dancing with his classmates. OMG

Not to mention, I teach my children how to think for themselves.

Amaxium, teach your children to think for themselves and make their own choices. It is as simple as that. If you do that, when they grow up they will be able to make healthy choices.

Harm None

mm, mm, MM!

Even though this song is rife with fallacies except Obama becoming the first black president, I think these kids are going to be all right. Most of them were probably either thinking about recess, lunch, or getting out of school.

Freedom to choose who you want to vote for.

For how much longer?

That freedom you speak of is an illusion, the Washington elite, special interests and major lobbyists control this "democracy". Your "choice" is always between two candidates of either party controlled and funded by the above. You are free to choose from the two they have put in those positions for candidacy. If you happen to be one of a very small minority that votes for an independent it makes no difference.

Freedom to choose whether you're bi, straight, or gay.

Enjoy that while it lasts, when the right wing religious radicals get their majority control of government that will likely change. Watch how sins can become crime!

Freedom to choose what car you want to drive.

Soon you will be free to choose from a variety of small golf carts made to look something like a car, as President Obama will mandate by law, fuel mileage requirements... Not to mention, he owns the major American auto corporations. You can choose the color you like.

The end.

Indeed

Well I'm glad you felt it was no big deal. And no I don't think it would have done your child(ren) any harm. Nor do I think that is the point... at least it's not for me.

If it were my children, I'd have definitely had a big problem with it. And not for the reasons you put forth... fear of indoctrination or w/e. I'd object because they are young children and shouldn't have some adult's concern with politics pushed on them. Whether it comes from an over-zealous teacher.. or some fanatical "consultant" approved by the school district. They're kids... they shouldn't be used to further political agendas. That's wrong in my book... and that's what I see happening in this case.

So when you say "Why didn't anyone say anything then?" My answer is.. I wasn't there.. or I , for one, would have. And when you try to color objection to this incident as "hypocrisy" I do sort of take offense.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh. the race card. thank god. it just wouldn.t be a discussion if you didnt have the race card.
it couldnt be a justified disagreement.
it has to be race!!!!!

the real problem is that when the SHTF, it's the people you call racist that will die for freedom. yours and mine.

i wish there was some way for you to get what you want and the people that believe in the constitution, and common sense could keep their freedoms andway of life.

Kids K-12 are still forced to Pledge Allegiance. I know because I tried not to.

Anyone got a problem with that?

I'm not trying to change the subject, but wanted to point out that its been happening in similar ways prior to this incident.

Now the big question:
Do you believe the political indoctrination of the youth (state sponsored or not), by a public school (or any public institution), esp. without the parents knowledge, is a good thing?

Absolutely not.

Personally, I don't believe it is. School is about teaching children the academic fundamentals, math, science, reading, writing, and most importantly, how to think critically. History taught objectively is good too.

You are incorrect when you state school is about teaching children academic fundamentals and how to think critically. Public schools are nothing more but "camps" designed to seperate the wheat from the tares, but ultimately, they all get placed in the fire sooner or later. In other words, public schools are manufacturing plants for worker bees and labor. At the end of the day the message is the same, "go to school, get an education, get a job, live the American Dream."

Damn, that was painful to listen to, worse than fingernails scratching a chalkboard... Who was that singing?

Obama was just a candidate back then, the whole birth/eligibility issue was still an unknown for him at that time so he did not feel obligated to express his allegiance.

I don't know why any rational thinking person would even comment on this...
. It is the Obama haters/Republicans looking for a reason, any reason to hate on Obama. So to all you that disagree with this, just let these fools vent...and over react over every little thing concerning Obama.

My signature is meant for those who are overreacting to this or anything concerning your president.
