A world first: Vaccine helps prevent HIV infection

news.yahoo.com

By MARILYNN MARCHIONE and MICHAEL CASEY, Associated Press Writers – 6 mins ago
BANGKOK – For the first time, an experimental vaccine has prevented infection with the AIDS virus, a watershed event in the deadly epidemic and a surprising result. Recent failures led many scientists to think such a vaccine might never be possible.
The vaccine cut the risk of becoming infected with HIV by more than 31 percent in the world's largest AIDS vaccine trial of more than 16,000 volunteers in Thailand, researchers announced Thursday in Bangkok.

Could this be???

I know that there have been stories here in the past that have talked about an HIV vaccine that prevents infection but if this story is legitimate it is huge!

This raises many questions to me as I have often taken the approach that TPTB do not want a cure for HIV for me out there as Pharma makes entirely too much money off of medically dependent diseases like AIDS and Diabetes and their greed would step in the way when people make breakthroughs. I could argue the deaths of all the Micro-biologists the past 15 years but that would be better suited in its own thread.

I'm just shocked at the incredible potential of this!

Before the floods come in saying it is not 100% effective, I know this. I read the article as well.
But if someone can undo nature/the NWO whatever you blame for HIV/AIDS then I consider that a good day in the name of science!

Just another gimmick to get you to line up with your 10$.....

Let me guess, the vax also does the dishes and brings me beer too?

I know that it is incredulous. If you read through my posts and my overall opinion of vaccines and trusting government in issuing them you know I am as skeptical as you are.

But thinking about the glimmering chance of it is nice...

Nice If true, and not another 'buy this vax' scam...
But, how do they test this ? I mean, do people step up and take the vaccine, then gets injected with HIV or have gaysex to see if the get the HIV ?

I meen, how do one test if you can get HIV without applying it to the patient ??

Very good point Chem. Not many on ATS complain about the government and vaccines more than I do.

But to answer your question, they tested this on men and women who did not have HIV.

The study tested the combo in HIV-negative Thai men and women aged 18 to 30 at average risk of becoming infected. Half received four "priming" doses of ALVAC and two "boost" doses of AIDSVAX over six months. The others received dummy shots. No one knew who got what until the study ended.

....

The results: New infections occurred in 51 of the 8,197 given vaccine and in 74 of the 8,198 who received dummy shots. That worked out to a 31 percent lower risk of infection for the vaccine group. Two of the infected participants who received the placebo died.

Now, keep in mind this study acknowledges that it is only being tested against the strains in Thailand. Neither the researchers nor myself are allowing themselves to have the feeling of security it will work against any variation, as that is not reality.

The potential that this has to work on the HIV/AIDS crisis in the world is astronomical if it is legitimate. Please pass this along to friends to let them know about this!

This seems to be a step in the right direction.

Sorry for the short response, but that's all I've got to say.

My apologies, but I am confused as to what you are speculating? As in a way for TPTB to inoculate those who refuse to take the Swine Flu vaccine?

I don't know if there is conspiracy to this here. The vaccine isn't perfect. Yet I think there could be a correlation to this and the swine flu agenda. I think that they are hyping this up (it's a good vaccine, I'll admit)... just at the same time as the flu season and that's what I find odd.

Hmm, good thoughts! The fact that it is not perfect is what got me too (in a good way). I know my international trade through the big European powers as well as the strong Asian markets, but am unfortunately less versed when it comes to Thailand.

Perhaps, and this is pure speculation I am not stating it as fact, these doctors in Bangkok are able to exist outside the framework the World Economy (not saying NWO and bringing that into this post... yet
). Their non-connection with playing by an elitist plan could be responsible for how they were able to get so far into their testing stages. Reading my last sentence out loud that sounds a little confusing. What I mean is that because they aren't a key player in world trade and world affairs they were able to make such progress. (On a note: their nominal GDP has them sitting around 34-35 in the world, which is higher than Israel who hovers about 8 nations lower so by no stretch of the imagination am I pretending that they are a poorer nation)

I said it earlier, but I'm oddly comfortable with this News Article. Read any of my Swine Flu threads and you'll think "ooooook, get this man a Tin Foil Hat, Pronto
." I am not feeling any malice on this one, just a genuine sense of hope that the battle against HIV/AIDS may have made a leap forward.
