Now that we have come upon 7 billion people I for one think its time to take a step back and really look at restricted breeding. I think you should have to get a permit to have a kid, there are too many ppl on this planet now, while I dont agree with killing anyone that is already here, we should totally restrict the amount of new people being brought into it. We don't have the space, we don't have the food, we don't have the clean water to sustain the life we have here now and we keep growing and growing in population. So many in poverty, but yet nothing is done, classic humans

I think pretty much any household without kids thinks that way. We'd watch the news or walk through WalMart or Target and think 'Uh, there ought to be a license to have kids'. Especially if you look at who is breeding the most kids. I refer to the 'Ideocracy' movie preamble to make the point, the intro is well thought through (rest of the movie is funny but not a keeper).

Bill and Melinda Gates foundation donated to birth control programs in impoverished countries (parts of India, etc), and were called racists. Not that there are 1.9Billion people in India, with regions suffering from overcrowding. Hard to believe there are six times as many people in India than in the entire USA.

So what pretell, would your criteria be for a permit?
And how do you think lessening the population would help to sustain the rest?

The obvious problem - Who gets to decide who has kids, and how many?

Humans have shown without a shadow of a doubt that they are absolutely incapable of controlling themselves - it just is NOT possible.

So we need to be controlled, we badly need a 1984 situation because it's an absolute statistical fact that we will indeed destroy ourselves and all other Earthlings along with us if we are not completely controlled or drastically reduced within a matter of decades.

Malevolent or benevolent masters, either way I just hope like hell we are all shackled and controlled before we destroy everything. The other option, that we grow up and control ourselves as a species, is simply not possible, we have too little time and too little motivation and direction.

There doesn't need to be selective breeding if religious ideology can be changed to address the issue. Let people decide for themselves whether they want to or are capable of having children, take away the religious beliefs that prevent birth controls and you'll probably see people choose not to have more kids.

for example in India and Africa where you have Hindus and Muslims who both believe it's wrong to practice any method of birth control and see where the overpopulation is. The same can be applied to Christians and Jews too.

There should be never be any Restriction on having children, but there should be more choices that approved by all religions and cultures.

Restricted breeding goes against the MAIN RULE (LIVE AND BE FRUITFUL). Seriously there is enough space for humanity on earth its just not fairly distributed so we got kaos. Me I feel our planet is RIPE again as its been in the past and is ready for the furits to be HARVESTED NOW.

Combine all the lakes above and below land and ice we got enough water
Fully farm large areas with super farms we got lots of FRUITS & VEGGIES FOR EVERYONE let livestock grow again w/o all the genetic mods to enhance the livestock size.
Distribute all medicines globally and we all got meds
make $$ a thing of the past and let 1 build up a credit sytem based on how much the individual CONTRIBUTES TO HUMANITY AS A WHOLE (farmer-doctor So the only rich types would be those who contributed to the enhancment and advancment of mankind).

Since we do not know the total amount of any given resource on earth, all above google queries are moot. I asked for facts, not the opinions of people who cannot have all the facts. Question remains. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THE EARTH SUSTAIN&PROVE WE ARE OVERPOPULATED.

Well, as Bill Gates daddy is apparently a top eugenicist it isn't hard to see what the Gates agenda is.

Obviously we need more war.
We need more sinister biological and genetic manipulation of deadly nastiness.
There is no way we are going to be able to stop breeding.
We must increase killing.

So - you are asking people to be reactionary and wait until the problem is an absolute that cannot be ignored before they consider any action?

Sounds distinctly American.

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that finite resources cannot be measured. This is why we have the classifications of renewable and nonrenewable resources - noting that renewable resources can also be depleted past a point of no return.

restrict breeding? only if we start with people that think nouns are unnecessary.

strangely enough, birth rates, and populations, are falling in developed countries. we don't need restricted breeding, we just need to lift the world out of poverty and population reduction will follow naturally.

Now how can you think that way, if it had been law when your parents were born you might not be here right now sharing your many words of wisdom....

This is the second post I have seen where you are calling for complete control of the human race. By whom exactly? The psycopaths who are calling for the extermination of most of the population? If you need controlling so badly, go join the army of something. But don't put the rest of us in your basket. The general population has done nothing to the earth...those who control us are the only ones who have polluted and raped the earth. If you had not noticed we are already totally controlled. We have never even had a chance to control our destiny. Therefore if anyone is to blame it is those controlling.
If something is an absolute statistical fact then cite that fact.
There is enough food, water, resources for the entire planet, it is just the greedy parasitical practices of a tiny psycopathic few that have created a situation where a lot are impoverished. The easier way is to destroy or lock upo those responsible and give control to the normal folk.

Super farms require deforestation and destruction of natural habitats and species.

Livestock cause food for the masses to be turned into food for the few - see my signature.

We aren't the only Earthlings you know. I wish so badly that there were at least 20 Earth species with speech - they'd all be screaming bloody murder at us ignorant humans.

honestly, I don't see an overpopulation problem. As a matter of fact, almost all western societies are experiencing the opposite. if not negative growth, then at least unsustainable @ current levels. So, well, I guess the question is, what is the purpose of this thread?

lovely...I sound distinctly American. wow.

for years i've been thinking (and sometimes sharing) that people should have to be licensed to have kids.
you have to have a license to fish for craps sake...
the only problem i see is look at driving. you gotta jump through hoops and pass some tests...but many STILL do not know how to drive.
so i don't know how well this would work.

but in theory, its a good idea.
too many people have kids who either have no concept of how to raise a child or don't even want to have a child...and it shows.
