Doesn't it say right in the video that this species of fish is well-known?

The photo of the Navy Seals, holding that fish is amazing.
We catch a way smaller version in shrimp nets in the Gulf of Mexico.
It's called a ribbon fish locally. I don't know if they are related.
Thanks for the views.

I believe it says the species was discovered in the 1840s, and thus documented but unstudied.

They say pretty darn fast in the video that this fish belongs to a scientifically known family. Your title is deceptive. No stars or flags here.

National geographic has identified it...

Ateleopodidae—also called tadpole or jellynose fish—are known for their soft, blunt noses and scaleless, tapered bodies.

The fish have small teeth and are thought to be bottom-feeders, eating whatever they can suck off the seafloor.

I was wrong but it was a good guess.
