Hmm... definitely some interesting pics, I'd like to see what any studies show about this thing. To me it seems very sloth like in a lot of ways, but at the same time there are marked differences that make me just scratch my head for example the eyes, and especially the structure/color of the nose. I have to say though, unlike most of the people posting here, I am no expert in the fields of zoology, genetic mutations, or mad scientists schemes so I guess I will just have to wait for more info to come out.

Its a sloth.

Its been in water and thats removed the hair, any animal that goes through that would look like some crazy monster/alien when found.

It does look freaky, but it is a sloth.

Look at the thing! It's terrifying. I'm not sticking up for the kids, but people act differently when they're scared.
I personally would have run for my life, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who would kill it.

I'd really like to know, if it is a sloth, why the hell it's totally bald?

If the kids were that scared, why did they take the time to completely shave the sloth after murdering it? I imagine it would take quite a while to completely shave an animal of that size. I have to admit though that they did a great job - I see absolutely no razor burn whatsoever.

I think that it is i sloth. When it comes to the skin, its either shaved or been in the water for a long time. I mean come on people, when in the water dead long enough things happen. Remember the tsunami in asia 26 dec? People looked really strange when they were found.

I suppose it could be a sloth cause of the hands and feet. But I can't help but think of Sheldan Nidle's book "Your Galactic Neighbors" he says there is a species of man sized, bi-pedal sentient amphibians from the star system of Beta Canceri. The creature looks very similar to the drawing.
I'd like to know just how big it was and if it walked on 2 feet.

So a hairless sloth is a frightening thing?

No teeth apparently, slow non threatening, smooth skin unblemished. Yup frightening! BS!

Except for the single claw it reminded me of Charlie No Face. The kid in my town who was burned so badly that he did not even look human. No finger nails, fingers grown together because of improper medical procedures of the time. Slits for eyes and moutn and no nose just holes.

A sweet young man with pitiful disabilities. Yeah! Lets go stone him too!

I agree what if it had been an alien?

Typical of humans, kill what you do not understand.

Hey lets all go out and kill homonids!

Screw Sasquatch, bomb the skunk ape! Hey lets call it science and get away with it, just like the Japanese killing whales.

So what have we learned here?

Hairless cats and naked mole rats! Kill em all!

Do I sound a little negative? Perhaps this is why humans are failing as a race?

Namaste!

It almost looks as if it belongs in water or underground. There aren't any teeth, claws, or anything that could make this animal dangerous, but it would be very frightening to run across in the wild. It seems tall! I was at the river the other day with my 2 year old neice and my girlfrield feeding the ducks and geese, and a nutria (swamp rat) just walked right up to me! It's a cross between a bever and a rat, and it horrible looking, no wonder these kids stoned it to death! haha

Maybe they tried to cross a human with a sloth through genetic engineering.
The arms look human-like and it has skin and no fur. The the claws are like a sloth's and the facial features resemble a sloth.
so maybe it just a failed genetic experiment that either escaped,or was let loose on purpose to see how the people would react.
