World Bank spends billions on coal-fired power stations despite own warnings

The World Bank is spending billions of pounds subsidising new coal-fired power stations in developing countries despite claiming that burning fossil fuels exposes the poor to catastrophic climate change. The bank calls on all nations in a report today to “act differently on climate change”.

It says that the world must reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, but it is funding several giant coal-burning plants that will each emit millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide a year for the next 40 to 50 years.

www.timesonline.co.uk...

With the G-20 summit approaching and Copenhagen awaiting a commitment from American negotiators, we learn that another multi-national organization is thumbing its nose at the AGW movement an moving forward with projects that will pour tens of millions of tons of CO2 into the air annually.

Last year the bank and its partner, the Asian Development Bank, approved $850million in loans to finance a coal-fired plant in Gujarat, western India.

The Environmental Defence Fund, a US lobby group, said that the plant, the first of nine planned in India, would be one of the biggest new sources of greenhouse gases on Earth, emitting 26.7million tonnes of CO2 a year for the next 50 years.

The bank is also contributing $5billion towards South Africa’s power generation expansion plan, which includes six coal plants.

At what point do we start asking how serious these NGOs are about CO2 compared to their interest in investments and projects at everyone else's expense.

Deny ignorance.

We need a really big bulldozer and just push the whole UN into
the East river. I'm so sick of our country being sold out by these
politicians! These treaties with the UN undercut our national
sovereignty just as the GATT, CAFTA and WTO did. This is why
we have no jobs left, our trade deficit is through the roof and
the major imports we get from Mexico are Drugs and Mexicans.

This isn't about race, it's about National self-determination. The self-
admitted goals of the UN are redistribution of wealth from the 1st
world to the 3rd world nations. The Globablists are winning and
the future looks bad not just for the industrialized world, but the
underdeveloped nations as well since they are being usurped as
well through debt instruments. Will we ever wake up?

As we prepare for the run-up to Copenhagen, it appears the U.S. will run headlong to stifle its economy and consumers so that BRIC can expand theirs, in the name of global warming.

So, if the U.N./I.M.F./World Bank will put other countries' economic welfare above climate concerns, why doesn't the US put OURS first?

India wasn't going to agree on Copenhagen anyway; so the IMF just shrugs its shoulders and PAYS U.N. MONEY (70% ours) to dump CO2 into the air!

The Obama administration is only concerned about "de-industriaizing" (per Science Adviser Holdren) the U.S., so none of this matters.

Deny ignorance.

More hypocrisy from the ruling class?!!!

Could it be?!!!

And yet people keep parroting their party line as if it were gospel.

Sad indeed.

Isn't the hypocrisy astounding?

Just more evidence they really don't care about what they're fighting for but are using the environmental problems to further their agenda.

Like the elites who say we need to charge citizens more for energy use while they live in houses that consume 10 times the amount of energy of the average household or fly around the globe in private jets.

Carbon taxes and credits on business but not their own. It's also funny how so many of them own interests in energy companies. Their personal profits will increase when their plans are implemented to charge the heck out of the citizens for energy.

It's not about the environment no matter how much they pretend it is.

Incredibly, the EU don't think we're doing enough to destroy our economy (as they've done to theirs) in the name of the AGW gods:

"US planning to weaken Copenhagen climate deal, Europe warns

Europe has clashed with the US Obama administration over climate change in a potentially damaging split that comes ahead of crucial political negotiations on a new global deal to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.

Curiouser and curiouser.

There are groups in this world who have turned our pollution problems into a marketable commodity.

CantorCO2e Environmental Brokerage

CantorCO2e a subsidiary of Cantor, is the world's longest standing environmental brokerage created to serve companies in a carbon constrained economy. CantorCO2e are brokers of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions allowances and reduction credits under the Kyoto Protocol and EU Emission Trading Scheme legislation. CantorCO2e is also active domestically in the US in markets concerned with NOx, SOx, VOC, PM10, CO, and Global warming issues and brokerage services related to greenhouse gases, renewable energy, and emissions offsets, and other environmental products. www.cantorco2e.com...

And CF is a primary dealer with the Federal Reserve.
Gore's limo probably is theirs!!!

Namaste, tambien!

Even Gore's own CO2 credit-trading company will reap billions.

GE has an entire division and subsidiaries poised for carbon trading.
