Americans still blind to two party fallacy

The republicans controlled the whitehouse and both houses from 2000 to 2008.
In 2006 americans tired of republicans rubber stamping Bushes failed policys and voted in more democrats.
The writing was on the wall for republicans, yet republicans continued to support Bushes war in Iraq, the trashing of the constitution, more laxed regulations on big business and then the bailout began.
The repubicans led the american public to vote in the democrats.
You didn't see it coming ?
Do you really think the republicans didn't see it coming ?
Is it any wonder why elitests consider the general public useless eaters?

Has there been any major change from Bushes policys to Obamas policys ?
Our troops are still dying for a war for oil.
The patriot act is still in force.
Jobs are still going offshore.
Americans are still losing their jobs and their homes.
Intrest rates are still out of control.

So americans have gotten tired of democratic control of the whitehouse and both houses.
So what choice does the public have in 2010 ? Republican ?

Wake up people !
Can't people see we are being led down a path of lies and deceit with the two party system?
Nothing is going to change till people wake up to the fact that americans two party system is a two headed coin.
Heads we lose again.

I don't think Americans are blind to the flaw of the 2 party system. It's bread out of laziness. It's too difficult to have more than one major political opponent, so the 2 party system helps America stay focused on their "enemy". Right now, we are seeing a 3rd party potentially emerge (the Teabaggers); however, this party is developing as the Republican party is diminishing. Only 1 of those 2 will survive though; otherwise, each party will have to spread around the hate too much...and the Dems will have a lock on many future elections.

Just my 2-cents

EDIT: We Americans do the same thing with wars (the you are either with us or against us mentality). It's never individual countries; rather an ideology we are against (makes it easier to focus on the enemy). (i.e., Communism, Terrorism, etc.)

ok...using "wake up people" on ATS is a non-starter...99% of the people that come here and post, have already woke-up, went to the bathroom and had their breakfast along time ago...sorry... but i'm just getting annoyed with people using that phrase on ATS...YOUR PREACHING TO THE CHOIR HERE, PEOPLE!!!

The people who believe there is a difference should read the excellent ATS post here and try argue against it.

Politics is like Sports. People become fans of a particular team and rally for that team exclusively all of their life, even if they aren't from where that team is from, or even if they know nothing about the players or the sport.

Funny how in our desire to feed our competitive nature, we blindly become fanatical in our "Us" vs. "Them" mentality that it becomes nothing more than a feud that we no longer understand what it was that we were supposed to be standing for.

Case in point: Ask a Card-Carrying Republican and Card-Carrying Democrat what their Party stands for. Both will say "Less government" and "Lower Taxes" and "More Personal Freedom". A Republican might add "No Gun Control" and "No Abortion" and a Democrat might add "Social Services" and "More Education" but that's about it. Neither will actually know what their Party's Political Platform actually says, but other than 2 topics of variation, they both think their respective Parties stand for the same things!

A choice between Coke or Pepsi is not a Freedom of Choice.

A choice between Darned if you do, Darned if you don't is not a Freedom of Choice.

A choice between Republican or Democrat is not a Freedom of Choice.

In our Bicameral Political System we do not have Freedom so long as a vote for another Candidate who has no affiliation, or is affiliated with a Third-Party is a wasted vote. Either we need to get rid of the Bicameral Parties altogether and have no Political Parties, voting instead on the Issues and the Person rather than on who their Affiliated Sponsor is, or have dozens of Political Parties from which we can choose.

Until then, a Republican calling Obama out for being a Democrat, or a Democrat calling Bush out for being a Republican is farcical at best and not really any different from hypocrisy.

As a Republican (for now) I could care less what the Democrats do. Republicans right now are Democrat lite. The American people are seeing what happens when Democrats control government and they don't like it. Republicans need to get rid of the Democrat lite members of the party. Benedict Spector was a start, McCain needs to go, Olympia Snowe is a freaking traitor, Lindsey Graham is a phony. In fact about 1/3 of Republicans need to be thrown out.

Make the Republican Party a true Conservative Party and we wouldn't have these problems. Americans need a true choice between liberalism and conservatism and this problem would be solved.

As far as Bush raising the debt. He did it to protect us, and every military spending bill was pumped up with Democrat pork. Bush had no choice but to pass it to get the vital money for the necessary wars.

Bush raised the debt to protect the United States. Obama is raising the debt to take over the country.

I can almost see it now....

While listening to the dulcet tones of Nero on the fiddle (if you listen close you can actually hear the proverbial burning of Rome in the background)...
