Okay. Drop the tarriff and add a carbon tax equal to the tarriff to the chinese goods. (Carbon from transporting, time at the ports etc.) Or instuct the stores to price chinese goods at the same level as american.
Thy can get the same effect without calling it a tarriff.

But China isn't buying US made goods now are they? Let them get mad what are they going to do? Stop selling us crap that either wears out in a fifth of the time or poisons the user.
