China needs the USA right now and vice versa. In the future though i think China's reliance on America will slowly dwindle as new markets open up and grow. They may be mad but they won't do anything about it except huff and puff for the time being.

Okay. Drop the tarriff and add a carbon tax equal to the tarriff to the chinese goods. (Carbon from transporting, time at the ports etc.) Or instuct the stores to price chinese goods at the same level as american.

Thy can get the same effect without calling it a tarriff.

Their tires, specially the heavy truck tires are pure unadulterated CRAP! They are out of round, can't be balanced and are prone to delaminating! I went through 6 in one day trying to get two that would roll without hopping off the ground at highway speeds. They loose half their air over night and are very dangerous to anyone using them or on the road with trucks that use them. Let China scream. They deserve to be banned from US highways!

Do you have any knowledge of the economic BS that China has been doing to the US thanks to the WTO while our nation is plunge into decay and desperation for our American labor force?

I guess not, Do you know that China and many other countries practice protectionism but when the US even try to do the same it guess penalized by the WTO?

I guess not.

China can go and suck a monkey for what I care, is about time somebody have the balls in the US to give the finger to China and the WTO.

The problem I see here is that they will enact tariffs on the goods we sell them. Personally, I think we should impose tariffs equal to the trade deficit of certain products. For instance, if there is a 95% trade imbalance with China concerning clothing and textiles, we should impose a 95% tariff on Chinese clothing and textiles. Eventually, they would either buy enough of our stuff to reduce the tariffs, or American companies would start making products at home again. China needs us far more than we need them.

But China isn't buying US made goods now are they? Let them get mad what are they going to do? Stop selling us crap that either wears out in a fifth of the time or poisons the user. Lets see Hmmm- They have shipped us poison milk, tooth paste, pet food, toys, candy, cribs that strangle the child - Oh my Gosh!!! That is how the Elite are going to reduce the populaion through chinese made goods.
Plus all of the non-engineered flus start out in the far east.

Is Agriculture still out main export to china? Lets see who will crack first the nerds who need the newest ipod or the chinese who want to eat.

GOOD JOB OBAMA!!!! ITS ABOUT TIME YOU DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!

This needs to be done. Keep in mind China started this a couple weeks ago when they told the US "We dont care if we lose money on derivatives contracts, we're not paying" China cares about China and we need to start thinking about OUR people and OUR middle class that has been shipped TO China. Keep it going Obama finally something I can praise you on.

I'm with Barack on this one, and I'll say to the communists, bring it on.

What those communists are bringing to the world stage is unprecedented and I hate it. I know the US plays dirty, the UK also plays dirty, but those communists.... they play 'filthy'. More than just the common dirt.

I hope China does something drastic. I promise you if they did all of those manufacturing jobs would be back in America, investors would pull ALL their money, and China would be 3rd world in no time.

This really is the Great Depression V2.0. Trade protectionism greatly exacerbated the depression. I don't see this turning out well for anyone.

Good points. China is notorious for practicing protectionism. Many other countries too (they just don't wanna admit it).

The worse part is China is a nest of copycats and fraudsters cheating world consumers for decades. I'm not surprised if that's how they get rich.

Few months ago, I bought 2 thumbdrives made in China via Ebay powersellers. Both were defective, sent one back but China side denied receiving it. I was ripped off almost 40 bucks.

They buy more than most people realize. A lot of it comes from small tool and dye firms that make highly specialized machine parts and equipment, like valves, nozzles, gears, etc. They are incapable of producing precision parts.
