Sorry if this has been posted already (its 4am and i just joined and I didnt want to read through all 22 pages of this thread).

Welcome to ATS

Also about the subliminals in the 'Evil' video. I dont see what impact they can have.

Page 5 in the thread show some of the still shot photography used as subliminal messages.
Did you see these when you watched the video for the first time?

I could understand if they were added to a video that would be put on mainstream television, but getting worked up over a youtube remix video that not many people will watch, what does it matter?

First, I think you’d be surprised how many times this video has been viewed.
But that’s not the point.

The point is, it was viewed once, by me, and I found it more than disturbing and after posting here I found I'm not alone in that impression.
But even if I was, this is the psychology part of the board and the video makes for a great tool for discussion of reactions, evil, desensitization, subliminals, and more.

If you read the post directly above yours and at the top of the same page as your post you’ll see some of the other reasons I brought it to this forum, no need for me to re-post what’s already been said.

Yes it probably has subliminals

Not *probably* it does.

but they were probably just put there to cash in on the whole swine flu thing. Perhaps they were even intended to be discovered to give this otherwise little-viewed more noteriety.

Whatever reason(s) we’re still waiting for the maker of the video to return to explain the intent behind the video, if any.
Check back to this thread occasionally if you’re interested in seeing his point of view.
I can’t promise he will return, but, he did at least visit once, so, we can hope.

Thanks for you post and Welcome again to ATS.

peace

Please stop. Often when you observe and discuss something, you give it more power. Like Peter Boyles talking about Ward Churchill all the time. I used to wake up in the morning for a few years in Denver and every morning I would turn on the radio (because Coast to Coast was on prior) and hear the fat and ugly man on the radio, Peter Boyles, sweating Ward Churchill. Sweating and sweating the man. I mean, enough already! We know you think it is evil and you've already ruined our day so can we move on? Can this thread be moved to BTS? I'm not trying to be mean, I am just saying enough already. Enough.

As I already stated the producer of the video is most likely and out of work college drop out that is scrounging coins for a Slurpee at 7-11...and he just as well be laughing at you his entire walk there.

Please, stop.

Please stop.

Is someone twisting your arm to return time and again to post off topic and derogatory remarks, mock me, the other participants, to continue to interrupt a well working thread?

If not, please try to have some respect for the 22 pages of contributors to this thread that find it “fascinating”, “interesting“ and “thought provoking.”

I mean, enough already! We know you think it is evil and you've already ruined our day so can we move on?

Ruined your day?
So the pig video didn’t ruin your day but I did?
Interesting that.

Can this thread be moved to BTS?

Why?
This is the psychology section of the board, and, this is all about the psychology of the mind, impressions, perceived evil, and, the effect, or none of subliminal messages.
It fits perfectly right where it is.

I'm not trying to be mean, I am just saying enough already. Enough.

No one's forcing you to read this or return. Point made.

As I already stated the producer of the video is most likely and out of work college drop out that is scrounging coins for a Slurpee at 7-11...and he just as well be laughing at you his entire walk there.

In my opinion, your judgment of someone you know nothing about uncalled for and is not welcome on this thread.

Did you know the creator of this video has been here on this thread? Did you know he joined ATS to come here to read and post?

But regardless of who or what this man may be, or his intentions behind the film, that isn’t the point of the thread.

These people *get it* - what the thread is about...

Thanks to the OP though, it's pretty interesting to see what everyone thinks about it. I wouldn't say in my mind it's evil, but it did freak me out, and I can see why you'd think that it was. I just see it as... weird.(Ayana)

Very worthy of discussion and analysis for a variety of reasons...It's an interesting discussion that touches on many arenas and no one is forcing you to sit here and read, what your doing is simply attempting to antagonize and disrupt the flow of conversation... (Mopus)

I'm fascinated with the subliminal imagery being discussed in this thread,(Burdman)

I for one think it's an extremely discussion-worthy video and i thank the OP for bringing it to my attention. (Blup)

two thumbs way up! one for sick, the other for disturbing.(randy)

To me, this thread about this particular video and its subliminals is reflective of a rising spirit, a growing tide in the oceans of humanity. Anything that truly seeks to expose the honest why of our dynamics is a plus in my book. (Orwellian)

Excellent post and thread. (Libertygal)

Ok, I’m through spoon feeding.

Please, cease interrupting the thread, coming here to cast your disparages about, taking up bandwidth on off topic comments.

For whatever reason the Mods find your interruptions and off topic posts acceptable.
I don’t.
And please, don't bother replying if you’re not going to stay on topic.
If you were looking for attention, you’ve had your dose from me, but no more.

If you can’t see the point of this thread is to discuss individual perceptions of evil, using a video as a tool of discussion, the use of subliminal messages, and, a case to be explored for or against desensitization by the media - oh well.

Interestingly enough, once again it’s someone who felt *nothing* over the video that continues trying to bash the thread and the people who did *feel* something.

That in itself is interesting.

It’s going far to confirm my fledgling conclusion that those who don‘t *feel anything* will go to great lengths in the use of negativity, in order to feel anything at all.

Thanks for all the testimonials and the clinical purple-prose bordering on psycho-babble, but you are making my point for me. This is an awful video. It is creepy. I get it. Let's move onto the next creepy one, shall we? This one is getting old.

Creepy=Something that makes you go WTF in an unusual or out of the normal reaction way. Something that causes one to say, "That is really odd. Not sure what to make of it, so I am going to keep my eye on it and see what happens. Kind of takes you out of your "safe zone" of perceived reality.

I think you may be onto something when you said you perceived it as evil. Not inherently evil, just your perception. As Poe said, "Perception is everything."

Most artists create their works to get a reaction form those who view their works. Fader Creep definitely has had that on many with this work. Maybe that was the whole idea behind this work?

I'm really curious to hear Fader Swap's explanation of his intention behind the subliminal messages (or if they don't imply a meaning at all). I wanna start a YouTube channel that implores subliminal messaging so we can do experiments. I'm just kidding, I already have one.

Nice way of putting it - exactly right on.

I'd still like to find out more about the original film - I'm still working on the history behind it.

And I agree, I hope Fader Creep comes back and lets us in on some more of his thoughts about the film, his intent and the making of it.

I would love to see the full 4 minute version of "la cochon danseur"...instead of this 2 min version.

I wonder if it's online?

Hmmmmmnm

It's on the "saved from the flames" DVD
www.amazon.com...

And it's originally from the "Trio of Cinema Wonders" (1904-1908, The Black Imp, The Dancing Pig, Acrobatic Fly) from blackhawk silent shorts.

It's right near the bottom

www.filmclassic.com...

It's on this compilation

www.amazon.com...

And also this one

My take on random youtube clip #40859:

Pointless... like most of them.

My take on this thread:

Comon man. Next you'll be discussing the so-called haunted painting with the boy and the hands and wether that's pure evil or not?

How... when you could have spent your time discussing something a bit more interesting and sinister that a freaking clip of Elmo and Ricky plus some pig... it's almost as boring as the art your kids bring home from school.

Here's something quite a bit more arty, sinister, "evil" and creative. Go bite down on this:

Thanks for the reply and posting a comparison video, but, I found it not only laughable, but, a yawn.

So what else do we gleam from your post?

Once again, we have someone who feels nothing about the *pig*, yet can't resist mocking, slamming, and trying to *one up* the people who do.

Hmmm, interesting how that continues.

If you don’t - or can’t - *feel* anything from the *pig* video - go out of your way and to great lengths to make sure and discredit, be condescending and dispassionate with those who do.

But no one who *felt* something evil or disturbing on the *Pig* video has uttered a single disparaging word against those who who do not...

Very interesting indeed.

I'll let others come to their own conclusions on that little nut of truth, at least for now.

EDIT TO ADD:

Comon man. Next you'll be discussing the so-called haunted painting with the boy and the hands and wether that's pure evil or not?

U2U me a url for said picture and you never know, depending on the impression I get from the painting, I just might make a thread covering it...

Thanks

Cool! You beat me to it! Looks like your search engines have been visiting the same sights today.

Thanks for posting and saving me the work, muchly appreciated.

In the mean time I asked my neighbor about the video.
She nearly went screaming from the house.
OUCH - That’ll teach me to show it to an elderly Sicilian woman.
(Not very nice of me was it)

Cheers for that.

I don't really use torrents.... used to use emule but I've pretty much downloaded everything I've ever wanted (music-wise).

I'll look into it though, cheers.

I'm still looking for the full version too.... Hmmmmmmm

Don't wanna buy the dvd.... but to be honest it does sound very cool.
Loads of old films, and very strange surreal ones at that
