North Korea - Uranium Enrichment

North Korea said Friday it had reached the final stages of enriching uranium, a process that would give it a second way to make nuclear bombs, in a defiant response to tougher United Nations sanctions.

The hardline communist state also announced it was building more plutonium-based atomic bombs.

"Experimental uranium enrichment has successfully been conducted to enter into completion phase," the official Korean Central News Agency quoted its permanent representative to the United Nations as saying.

I love how with our 650 billion dollar defense budget we can't find a man hiding out in a cave anymore than we can figure out whether or not NK actually has the ability to procure and produce uranium to make nuclear weapons.

Well, uranium makes making nuclear weapons easier to do. Plutonium is tougher to work with, seeing the gaps they've had with their weapons, so if they are nearly finished with uranium enrichment, that's extremely scary.

It may come soon enough to deal with this problem in a different way.

Yeah.

We may have to stop acting like the asshat of the world and finally let the Koreans have the nuclear power that is their right to have...

Don't play dumb as to what they would do. They're building nuclear bombs. They have threatened us if we try to stop their program. They're continuing to work with long-range missiles.

This is dangerous stuff, Exuberant.

I don't think they'd do anything unless we attacked them first.

We survived the Cold War. The Soviets could not attack us without being destroyed themselves (Mutually Assured Destruction).

*And only nuclear weapons made in the USA ever get used in war.

And Kim Jong Il is on his deathbed. What if, for a last act on Earth, decided to bomb a country?

And I think you're wrong. North Korea, with nuclear weapons, will start threatening many countries in their region.

South Korea, Japan, Thailand, among others.

Myanmar also could become a deadly ally to North Korea, seeing that it is possible that North Korea is helping them build a plutonium facility.

You have been reading too much American propaganda.

The Soviets didn't do that even as their empire was collapsing.

You have to ask yourself a simple question.

Would this planet be better off after total nuclear annihilation of every living thing on it?

I think the answer is rather obvious. Of course the planet would be better off.

So if we're all to die in a nuclear oblivion, I say so be it.
