I'm not gonna say I've never been tempted to do the same thing, that kid on my flight last week had me close to the edge.

I still am waiting for king to define trash for me.

What defines a person that you guys think is WalMart trash? Or trailer trash for that matter.

Interesting thread here

www.abovetopsecret.com...&flagit=497836

Please do enjoy that link

I defined my point and trash on page one, get a grip.

Here's the quote.
"Intentional ignorance = stupidity.
Stupid + ignorance + short sightedness = trash."

Unlike some people on this forum, I don't waiver on my opinion cause its unpopular. If I offend people, so what. The fact that people get offended is because they take it personally. If you don't fit the shoe, why put it on? Are you trying to take someone elses pride as your own? Or do you truly fear you fit in the trash pile?

When will people get a grip and realize that America is hooped because of their own attitude and ignorance.

The only thing Wal-Mart is smart about is luring people with their trash to enrich countries like China, while taking away from America what used to support the nations economy.

Yes you get your trash cheaper but you are no supporting America you are supporting China.

Wal-Mart is cashing out on people that has lost their employment in the US thanks to outsourcing jobs, layoffs, job cuts for profits and in sourcing of foreign workers.

Perpetuating the denigration of Americas once fluent and productive middle class.

Yeah ChinaMart is doing great at the expenses of Americas misery.

I didn't know that a person who is poor is trash.

I didn't know that unattractive people are trash.

I didn't know that people with Mohawk's are trash.

I didn't know that overweight people are trash.

Shirtless in a store is trashy, where are the store managers.

Gross fingernails are trashy.

Going out in public dirty is trashy.

Behavior and demeanor may indeed be trashy, but people are NOT trash! I can only hope that one day you are painting your homes or in the middle of something and have to run to the store in a t-shirt and shorts and someone assumes you are trash.

Remember, the way you judge others does say volumes about you as a person. How tacky to be that insecure and full of yourself to label human beings as trash to be discarded.

Not too many enlightened people in this thread. I am not surprised but please remember...most of the US is a few paychecks from homelessness. My fondest wish is for the same people that judge those with less money as trash will one day find themselves in that same position.

You want to know what trash is, I'll give it to you. There's a guy here that makes Jethro Bodine look like an absolute genius. His kids ride around Wal-mart in those electric carts that are suppose to be for people that are handicapped or have trouble walking. So, while his kids are having fun playing with those things like they are bumper cars, and generally jacking around on em, people that have a real need for them are out of luck. That is trash. They have no regard for others.

How is Walmart selling more stuff from China than any other store is? They sell the same brands and products that any other store sells. Their grocery store sells the exact same product as Safeway, but it is cheaper. All their brands I can find at Best Buy, Target and Home Depot. I saw some of their clothing and it said Made in USA. Their school/office supplies are the exact same brands/products as Office Depot.

I just do not understand this claim. Can you give some examples on how Walmart sells more China products than Target or any other store? And again, I prefer Target over Walmart (less crowded) but I do not see much difference in brands or product.

I guess even if the claim was true. Do you really think most Americans could afford to pay for made in America products? Companies would have to raise the price of the products in order for them to make any profit - since most companies now have to pay rather high min wage.

Try Wal Mart beef for a few months, then go check out the meat counter at your local grocer, better yet bring some home and eat it! You'll never go back. The quality improvement is amazing.

I loath Wal Mart. To me and based on my experiences, they cut corners whenever possible and the quality of their merchandise is horrible.

Every kind of person you can imagine lives in and around any given community.
It's places like WalMart that people tend to gather.
People need and want stuff.
Regardless of someones opinion of them, they have a right to go out in public.
Because WalMart more or less destroys any competition, it becomes the hub for people to get what they need.
When people spend money, they revert to a more primitive mentality.
If they think they are being ripped off, for even so much as a penny, they are going to make a stink about it.
Be it men, women, doctor, lawyers, office workers, homebodies, etc..
All kinds react similarly, when spending money.
Trash, is an irrelevant concept.
Either someone is courteous or not.
I would be more inclined to call some of the employees and management of WalMart trash, before I would any of the customers, because of lack of courtesy.

I like Wal-Mart but I dont. It does take away from all the little businesses in the area which in turn shut down. I lived in the New Smyrna area and I know a couple years ago they were fighting to keep Super Wal Mart out of their area but I found out they are building one far enough off the highway to where the locals dont seem to have a say. It's sad because NS has a lot of small businesses that will probably go under due to Wal-Mart moving in. I go there for convenience after wk, it's the only place open at 2am. During the day its a mad house and I have yet to have good customer service there! I know the people that work there dont get paid much but they should be happy to have a job!

As for wal-mart people being trashy well I guess that is a matter of opinion and it really does depend where you live. I had 3 super Wal-Marts in a 3 city radius that were only 15 mins from my house and only one was considered "nice" to go to. The other two were horrible. The store was unkempt and the people who worked there were well not friendly. I had one girl recently in an AL store talk about how she should be fired by now and how she gets away with everything. She was talking to her friend (who did not work there) while ringing up my purchases and completely ignoring me! She was so nonchalant about what she was doing and saying about how she acts and treats customers. Her friend was laughing and I was in awe at how rude she was. When she was done with my order she had the nerve to ask me how I thought she was as an associate. I told her that was a really dumb question to ask me after what she had just done. She made a rude sly comment and then my bf grabbed me cause he knew I was about to go off on this girl. I complained to mgmt and they did nothing but smirk as well... Oh how I miss Woolworths! Yeah I loved that place and they had everything!

Haha, yah I am 'un-enlightened' and must be insecure about my trashiness? haha.

It has nothing to do with 'running to the store in a gross t-shirt'. I don't even know why I am continuing this, you've made it quite evident that you fear you may be part of the trash heap.

I used to buy games and cd's at Wal-Mart namely because it was open 24/7 and I had irregular sleep patterns.

I've seen people from all walks of life there.

I'm not sure if this has been posted already or not, but there's a site that shows you in a very sad way what kind of people are perceived to shop there:

If people see this and don't know any better, they assume everyone is like that.

That very first question in you post shows that no matter what information is posted about how wal-mart is screwing Americas workforce is going to change your overview support of that store.

If you are for a good reading and you are interested on learning facts about the biggest chain retailer cashing out on Americas demise then here is a good read.

Is wal-mart good for America?

Everyone will be shopping at the dollar store before it's over with. If the dollar continues to loose it's worth. A dollar today may just end up like a penny down the road. Dollar General's stock has actually gone up because of the recession.

People are not trash because of their lack of money or social status. Some people have just never been humbled in their life.

You are right people are no trash because they are penny pinching in this economic crisis I do too but support Wal-mart I will not.

Specially because our economic demise means profits for those that cause that demise, for those corporations cashing out on the unemployed, welfare recipient and poor.

Is a reason why we are in this mess we are now, so certain groups can make money out of bad situations, perpetuating and helping support unemployment, social programs and halting prosperity.

If people were working and prospering Wal-Mart will not be doing so great.

The history of Wal-Mart shows how they have help create the nation we have to live with right now.

Walmart is a part of the problem with the economy ,but Walmart also hires handicapped people, and old people. I have seen people working there who I knew would not have been given jobs by other companies.

In my neck of the woods Winn Dixie, target, Publix and K-mart also hire elderly and handicap.

See even in todays economic woes the elderly is one of those groups of people that needs to find jobs also, because economic problems.

What's so strange about seeing Captain America shop at Wal-Mart? Even super heroes need to tighten in the savings in this financial crisis.

Thanks for the link.

I do understand what you are saying King about the whole way that WalMart destroys a city.

I have to differ with that line of thought.

The one that came into this neighborhood revitalized an otherwise failing area of town. Did it supplant a local supermarket? Yep. But I wouldn't be caught dead in that particular one anyway. Across the street was an already failed fish market. 15 years after it closed, that sign is still there, but the building is long gone. At Christmas the tree merchants take up residence, so now each year, we go to the "Fish Market" to buy a tree.

Is it low priced? Yup. But I can buy cheaper if I drive 10 miles north to another grocery store. It doesn't have the variety as Wally World, but the meat, dairy and vegetables beat Walmart hands down.

Another local chain, Harbor Freight sells tools that are also made in China. You have to keep your eye on what it is you are buying, but for a lot of items, it's a great deal. They also beat Walmart in their line of goods.

Walmart catches a lot of flak.. mainly from those who place a lot of importance on brands and are willing to pay that extra bit of cash just so they can be ... well... "politically correct" for lack of a nicer term.

One issue that "drives" local merchants out of business, is the loss of their regional monopoly. I can see it as an issue, but in this case I don't see K-mart as having a higher moral ground to preach from... or any other small box stores like that.

The other stores in that Walmart area are fully leased and thriving as far as I can tell. And that grocery store? It moved closer to it's normal customers and is still in operation.
