SHTF Scenario 1: What if they raise property taxes?

Exactly what the title says. All the gov't has to do is raise property tax on individuals with land, houses, property, and "BOOM". There goes chaos.

So I've been thinking about this topic for a long time (probably 2 years)

Just say that SHTF. OK. So you have no money, the gov't is trying to control everything, and the world is in chaos.

What are you going to do when property taxes are increased and you can't pay for the property that you have? House, acreage, farm, etc, etc.

I was wondering this. Just because you own a house or a couple acres, doesn't mean the gov't can't take it away. If you can't pay your taxes. They will take it.

So now what? If you don't have a house to live in or property to stay secluded on? All the survival preparation in the world is at your house. Now you lost it.

I guess thats what I fear the most. Losing the farm. Rhetorical question I guess.

I might see this being used based on the number of occupants. Rental property etc. But it's my understanding that many foreclosed homes are a burden, which makes no sense to me with these stupid banks. It's like shooting yourself in the foot. ( and I understand why people trash them) I've read where homes that are purchased for a few hundred dollars have the tax bill to be paid as well and you have to clean it up right away?

It's been my outrage that the elderly or disabled on fixed incomes have to pay higher taxes? Reverse mortgage should also apply to the property taxes and or as a lien? Not sure on these rules, just what I've heard.

The elderly have a right to get angry. They work all their lives to just retire with always someone trying to take what they have left.


If someone doesn't live there, the house may get trashed and stripped. If no one can afford to rent, it's a lost deal.

So many rules against flipping too. When I see ads where people buy homes super cheap and flip them, it means someone else lost heir home and it makes me mad. I haven't seen those ads lately, but I have seen other housing market ads for a great time to buy. Same thing, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, they're going to tax something and maybe everything like the Romans had probably done.

I think they're trying to make us revolt.

I think you are right. Revolution will make Martial Law easier to enforce. Also, Eminent Domain! They can just take your land.

They'd have to be nuts to do it and they couldn't force everyone to pay up.

Our new landords will be Chinese? I've read that the Chinese are leaning english at a very fast pace. Maybe this is why. Chinese NWOG (Guard) There will likely be no national borders and these so-called peacekeepers will likely be foreigners.

They are already doing it. My property taxes are going up about 15% this year, from $3200 to $3800 per year. This after my house fell 30% during the last year. I am not a happy camper.

And I always thought taxes were also based on property values. Maybe you need to get it appraised? ( that could be worse) I doubt they look anymore and just use statistics. Would your taxes stay low if you were trying to sell it and had it apprased by a realtor?

One of my moms neighbors is selling an old Van box style camper. Looks tempting in a way. Kinda like a storage facility on wheels.

I think farming would be last thing they touch or take away. Somebody said it si like shooting yourself in the foot...
But if you have land and you cannot pay taxes and your farm is the only way for you to survive (mean grow your own garden and selfsusttaining life style) than if they take away you and your family going to die of hunger for example.
In my opinion they better shoot me right there when they take it away otherwise I will defend my farm with a gun.

In the soviet union, they've raised property taxes and all sort of taxes until everyone was bankrupt, take their property and send them to the gulags for being bankrupt.

Here, the IRS raids you and put you in jail, if they don't kill you first.

Property values are lower but the tax rate has gone up substantially.

There's been mention here before on other threads about them telling you what or who will grow produce in your fields. Sure sounds more like China to me. I think many people who own farms these days are run by corporates anway.

People who have wind farms might also lose these monies and rights. I see the day when farm stands will be run by the government or more likely stopped completely. They may not even be able to give it away.

Home grown foods and such will be illegal, just like the drugs. Some areas really are no good for growing food with the toxins in the soil, such as lead in inner cities etc. But, who's going to manage those tests and results?

Anytime that you live in a tax based country it is impossible to own anything.........”period”. If you own a car and don't buy a license, you can't drive it and the list goes on! It is the same for your land, house and what ever else you think you might own (it is a good time to think that one over). When this country has its notes being called in for payment, the rich are going to another part of the world and the rest of us will be right here trying to figure out what to do next. And since the US doesn't have anything backing it's money, it can only be backed by the land that is part of the US.........that is your land and mine! You can't go into a bank and get money without having collateral, well this country can't do that either!

Start with local government and get control, the big government can't stand without it's legs. There is just as much corruption in the local mayors office as there is in the top office of our country. As a common citizen that is the power you have, the big boys have to many around them to be able to change at present.

Property Taxes and Survival,

Two of the most important subjects in my life.

My neighbor lost his land due to delinquent property taxes
His land was almost triple over value compared to others on the road.

I'm involved in a running battle with Property Taxes for the last 3 years.
It involves corruption of the Chief appraiser, perjury, freedom of information acts (non-compliance) and 2 district court appeals.

This is in Texas. I've held my own but, what a battle.

It is coming to other states. While visiting Colorado, I heard all the usual political rumblings of their intent to dratistically change their tax/property tax system.

People WILL get taxed out of their homes, it happens everyday in Texas. All for the sake of the childrens precious eductation.

I say what's best for the kids is to not tax their parents out of their homes.

I wouldn't doubt there's that much corruption in Texas at all. Waco, the Mormon compound and the most likely cover-up of the actual Texas chain saw massacre by an elites son. My son was recently framed in Texas. There will be a day of; " Reckoning" or is that; " Wreckoning."

What always amazes me is how they can try to justify taking your house and/or property valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars for a few thousand you may possibly owe.

How is it justified?

Just because it's written in a law shouldn't make it legal, ethical or moral. Laws are written just for these purposes. To manipulate and control EVERY aspect of your life.

This is a million times worse than the mafia ever was or will be.These people truly are deceitful criminals, murderers, hypocrites and worse...yet have the nerve and audacity to point fingers and make petty accusations against normal average citizens trying to get by and live a normal life in this HELL they have made.

There is no justice until we make it for ourselves!!!!

What are the solutions?

Save up money and earmark the amount of annual taxes? Assuming our money is gonna be good.

My taxes are only 750.00 a year here for a house and some land!
Of course there are no jobs and what jobs there are only pay min. wage!
Guess you cant have it all.

WRONG!!!!

I and several others have been fighting bills that will make farming by independent farmers and hobby gardeners close to impossible. The bills include fines up to a million dollars, up to 10 years in jail, no recourse to a jury trial and the new food czar is Mike Taylor lawyer for Monsanto! One made it through the house...

About property taxes. They raised my taxes from $900 a year to over $5000, that is close to $500 a month. I can rent a nice place for that here in the North Carolina boonies.

It would seem they have many ways of dealing with enemies of the corporate elite. Tax people out of their homes etc. Farmland taken over by corporates etc. There may come a day when you can't even grow herbs in your own home to cook with.
