If I remember it well it was for lack of participation, people voted at the beginning but the votes become less frequent and almost stopped, so the award was dropped.

Last thing we need is another popularity contest. Why not a beauty contest while you are at it?

I think SchroedingersDog hit the nail on the head. Everyone contributes in their own unique way and without all that diversity the site would be nothing. Picking and choosing individuals would just be diluting the impact of the whole.

Now, best and worst Mod ... hmmm that would be some evil contest.

If an idea like this were to happen, I think that it would be better for the members to nominate and vote for people, rather than the mods, but that's just me.

Though, I don't think this would work because, some people would get mad, pick up their ball, and go home.

Not being a fan of popularity contests in general (guess why ), I'll defer. I'm amazed how everything needs to be turned into some sort of competition. I'm hopeful I've found a place where the collaborative search for truth is more important than the recognition.

Let's just for fun see what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit.

And now having dropped the wet blanket, if that's the direction it's headed, I can shrug it off.

The writers, I mean the contributors who when they don’t get S&F, or feel like their little ego’s are taking a beating, feeling judged and left out, ya know, things like that, they take their toys and go home.

They ditch their friends - their projects - their commitments.
All for those shiny little blue stars.

So, hey, it might go over great - but when the wannabes loose, the fallout could be massive.

Isn't that what the Flag Contribution Level thingy is for?

I was thinking that worst posts of the year board/thread might be interesting, but then thought better of it, because people might start posting junk just to see of their post makes it there.

As far as judging Avatars goes, that is very subjective – mine, to many it may be annoying irritating, or just plain WTF, but to me, for now, I like it.

As for voting for favorite Mod, that would be interesting, however, being a popularity contest could swell the head of the winner or put the others in bad moods. If done properly only the top three would be shown, and you would not show which came in at the bottom.

If however this thing was done and done live online, how would you determine time it would be and which time zone to use, would a vote be taken, and would everyone necessarily agree on the outcome of that vote?

My ending thought is this, it would be unforeseeable what kind of impact this would have on the ATS community, “if it isn’t broken don’t try to fix it.”

I doubt they'd do it, they seems busy as is, mutter has been down for awhile, asking for more!

Plus, members who didn't make it may get mad and quit the site, losing revenue due to the ads.

Be pretty risky I'd say.

I like the idea, but don't think it'd work.

And those would be career stats and this would be the All-star game......

Ok this has gone 3 pages now and not a squeak from Owners or Mods. So either they are on their own forum hooting it up at the picture representation depicted above or they all went out for sushi.
