Scientists Baffled - Suicidal Cows

www.dailymail.co.uk

Dozens of alpine cows appear to be committing suicide by throwing themselves off a cliff near the small village in the Alps.

In the space of just three days, 28 cows and bulls have mysteriously died after they plunged hundreds of metres to rocks below where they were killed instantly.

I find this story significant - particularly in light of the horrific recent string of teenage suicides in Bridgend.

Bizzarre suicide clusters, maybe there is no conspiracy here ....BUT can't help thinking that there could be much more to this than meets the eye - some new technology being tested perhaps.

It doesn't say in the article if the dead cattle have been tested for diseases. Possibly mad cow disease?

Kinda like a "whale beaching" but a "cow cliffing". No one has ever accused these meat sacks of being of any intelligence. But I would guess that it is either inbreeding, search for food or disease. Or possibly a stampede situation where the ones at the back don't see the cliff and force the "front runners" off the cliff.

Interesting though

Maybe they figured out what actually happens in the butcher shop....

Or their depth perception is gone just completely.

Found this article from last year about dolphin "suicide"

LINK

"Vic Simpson, a pathologist who examined some of the 26 dead mammals, said today: "On the face of it, it looks like some sort of mass suicide - but the question is why? The dolphins had swallowed and inhaled big chunks of mud from the estuary. Their lungs and stomachs were full of it. That is very bizarre indeed."

And this one from 2007 - mass suicide of 152 dolphins

LINK

"The mysterious "mass suicide" of 152 dolphins washed up on Iran's coast over the past month has alarmed environmentalists, with the blame pointed at regional fishing practices, officials said on Monday."

Makes me think of the biblical story of casting swine into the sea that were possessed. ( when pigs fly)

Maybe they know aliens are chasing them for their butt holes and lips?
\
I'm sure they'll get to the " bottom" of it.

If you think about it, what do they have to live for? A meaningless life, coming to an end when they are slaughtered and butchered... who wouldn't get depressed?

More seriously, it could be something as simple as the presence of some vegetation that affects coordination or perception that they grazed on, causing them to become intoxicated and fall accidentally. In the US there is "locoweed"; no clue what they've got in Europe, but I'm sure there are a few weeds that could do something like that.

It could be something like that but did you see the photograph in the article ...how weird is it that they all land in the same place!!

Just found an link which is disturbing - it is about an advert for "global warming" with animal suicides

The tagline

“Global Warming - If you give up, they give up.”

Ive heard of sheep that follow each other round in circles because of continuous air currents that create vorticies within a certain field, the sheep would subconciously interract with this vorticie while eating (afterall there just sheep, they dont realise there following each other around in a circle looking odd in a field.) And I suspect the same thing is happening here with these Cows.

These two statements from the article stood out to me:

According to local reports, there had been violent thunderstorms in the area which may well have spooked the animals.

....
There has been speculation in the past that when this does happen it is because a tightly-grouped number have followed each other.....

My first thought was maybe a herd mentality. If one is leading and gets spooked by some thunder to run, and runs in the wrong direction, a lot of his companions could end up following him right off the cliff.

So it really doesn't take 28 crazy cows, just a few that get spooked if the rest are following in a stampede away from the thunder.

I was surprised they had to airlift the cow bodies out by helicopter, that was the most interesting part of the whole story to me, I never would have guessed that!

Maybe the cows know something that is coming instinctively. Near Fresno. CA there was a stampede of 3 dozen cattle that just ran off a cliff about 10 days ago.

linky

Coincidence? Dunno, but it is weird.

I don't know about this, since cows infected with Mad Cow disease suffer from an inability to stand. (edit to add from wikipedia
)

I'm going to go with the thunderstorm as the culprit for this.
Dark, stormy night...confused cows.. perhaps they didn't see the cliff, and just ran off it to their demise? Thunderstorms could cause that, I believe.

I agree. I know from living beside a farm for about 15 years that when it gets ready to rain all of the cows will group together so yeah if the leader got spooked and started running they would all follow. I think anyway, that makes the most sense to me.

Are these cows of the Lemming Cow family? Maybe there were some people that drove these cows off the cliffs so they could then harvest the meat and bones and skins, like my ancestors did?

Are these adolescent cows? I remember one time when I was 13 and I was dared to ride a sled down a cliff. I was willing to do it. How dumb is that? Well, maybe dumb as a cow. heh. But my friends decided I was a stupid butt and prevented me from doing that. Dang cows didn't have enough friends?

I am joking of course. Well, not about me wanting to ride the sled down the cliff.

I want more info. Could these cows have been so inbred that, well, their eyesight wasn't so good? Were they retarded? Was there a pulse of energy from Billy Meir's UFO's that discombobulated these cows minds?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I could understand the herd mentality explanation - if the article hadn't said that the "suicides took place over a three day period.....

Its the energy change the entire world is going through right now.

If you search deep inside I know most of you can feel it. The intensity of this listless feeling went up ten fold on June 22.

The earth is one, we are all part of the one. The one is becoming sick and needs to change. We all feel it.
