This has got to be one of the most amusing Half Moon/Lunar Eclipse threads that I have ever read.

I have been downloading the original picture into my Commodore 64 over the past 24 hours and I should have some analysis on the Half Moon pic in just a moment.

After some further enhancement in my VIC 20 I get this.

Just for laughs.

Half Moon or possibly a strange lunar eclipse anomaly.

Yes i tried an indepth examintation on my gameboy but it just shows a picture of the moon. Maybe we should have asked Jaime Maussan, he would have told us that it is a mother ship.

There are actual investigators that look at these posts, but will not touch such a polarized conversation. Like stepping on poo, it stinks and stays with you.

Next time, have a report quality post with time, date, conditions, camera type and model, other peoples statements and most of all the original un-sized, un-filtered or even not copied image.

There were lots of possibilities to learn from this, but it was lost with no smart planning.

If you are just posting a pic of your night out, do it somewhere else, but if it is a picture you want some intelligent forensic evaluation, give us good information and accurate data to start with.

the original like someone stated is not much different than the uploaded photobucket version

has anyone tried a high contrast/noise reduction on the image

wont that take the black out?

I really wish people who dont believe me and think i took a picture of a half moon would simply not post in the thread instead of indirectly calling me a liar

You sure do know your jargon for someone who claims not to have any knowledge. Do you want to borrow my Vic 20? Take the digital file to a local camera shop for God's sake. Those guys will be all over it and won't charge you much.

Your question has been answered to no end on this thread. Just open your wallet and pay someone a couple of bucks to analyze it for you.

At least post a pic with EXIF data intact. The first thing any investigator wants to do, is see what kind of lunar eclipse may have occurred on the date the picture was taken. However, the image data indicates it was taken on 1/1/2005 at 12:00 AM, and you're account of "about a year ago" doesn't help a whole lot.

Cant help it, to this day the camera probably is going to have the default date.

Camera is a Sony Cybershot 8.1 megapixels carl zeiss, vario-tessar 2,8-5,4/7,9-23,7

thats everything written on the camera, its touchscreen also

Im sorry i dont know the exact date, Someone already said that the last lunar eclipse of summer 2008 was in august, but by august i had moved out of there.

Pic was taken June or July, but it does not help unless someone can actually decode the pic, if you want the original u2u me your email i will send it

Heh lucky enough for me guess what was in the sky last night in my neck of the world

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/c0f35138efd1.jpg[/atsimg]

A half moon... kinda timely to boot, Also id like to point out that the red hue can be due to atmospherics low to the horizon, and looking at the OP's pic that moon is real low in the sky. Heck the last few weeks the moon where i live has been deep yellow and red at moon rise (the angle the moon in the OP's pic is in, the moon here rises over the town for the most part so its right in line with all the smog) thanks to all the evening winter fires people are having so I would argue it doesn't have to be a lunar eclipse in any regard to look like that

Im surprised the OP is so adamant its something else... hmm Ill try to get a moonrise pic tonight if its clear as an example of the red smog induced hue.

We can take the black out, but in that case we are left only with the Moon and buildings, cars, etc., everything around the Moon is black.

Edit:
Here you can see your photo with the RGB value 0,1,0 (almost perfect black, that would be 0,0,0) replaced with white. As you can see there is no difference between what we perceive as black with our own eyes.

Analyzed:

He left his girlfriend in the car.

He ran to his apartment to grab a digital camera.

In the several minutes:

She Yawned

She checked her phone for the time.

She called a cab.

She left him with a story, and a great excuse to leave.

I know I know, I should have taken a picture, but I was enjoying the evening way to much to go inside and round up a camera.

My point, is that last nights moon looked exactly like the original image. Nothing strange about it... Just a tad more than a half-moon.

Watch the moon tonight, it'll look pretty darn close.
