Mint. Be cautious as to what you believe when its 'hearsay'. A C2C episode aired 6/6/02, Bob addresses the incident you state:

Contrary to what some folks have stated, the directorate is alive and functioning, the military is not the only ones out there, the Air Force may be operating the facility, but civilian contractors are the ones doing the testing, as well as the security. The Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC), headquartered at Edwards Air Force Base, is the operator at Groom Lake [Groom Lake is Detachment 3 (DET 3) of AFFTC]
EG&G is the main defense contractor there, probably the BOS (Base Operating Services) contractor. They have a private terminal at the Vegas airport for employees to fly the daily shuttle to Area 51.
Wackenhut subcontracts with EG&G to provide security.
Check out their website for job openings. www.egginc.com (only 3 openings in Vegas listed)

ALL POSITIONS require a ts/sci ssbi, which is a top secret with a single scope background investigation.
JT3 in Nevada would be the company to apply to. The TS/SSBI is a roaring pain to go through and it can take anywhere from 6 months to 3 years to complete. You can be sent to your job assignment without the T.S. clearance but your access to information and where you can go unescorted is very limited. Once the T.S. clearance is received, you can pretty much go wherever necessary to perform your job duties. JT3 is constantly looking for experienced electronic technicians and you dont have to wait for them to call you. Put your resume on one of those "job shopping" sites (like Monster) and also apply at jt3.com.

Also, Mintwithoutahole, Lazar developed a contact through famous physicist Edward Teller, "father of the hydrogen bomb," who headed a group at Los Alamos in the Theoretical Physics division, was Director of Livermore Laboratory.
Teller was impressed with the newspaper clipping Lazar showed him of his jetcar at a symposium, enough for him to help Bob get an interview at Area51...so, its details like these that get overlooked/forgotten..he just didn't walk into a job like that without some credentials, from someone of Teller's stature no less!

Q clearance is a United States Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance equivalent to a United States Department of Defense Top Secret (TS) clearance and Critical Nuclear Weapon Design Information (CNWDI).[1] DOE clearances apply for access specifically relating to atomic or nuclear related materials ("Restricted Data" under the Atomic Energy Act of 1954). The clearance is issued to non-military personnel only.
As of 1993Important Topic Updates
, Q clearances required a single-scope background investigation of the previous ten years of the applicant's life by both the Office of Personnel Management and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and cost $3,225
en.wikipedia.org...
So only a single scope check of your last 10 years, by 2 agencies and a fee of $3,225 gets you Top Secret/Q clearance
Anyone need a career change?
Of course we expect some 'goodies'

I am unsure of what planet you are from but Area 51 has hardly been a secret for a very long time
Funny how you keep insulting people you have never met

No they supply the suits... and you have to leave them at work so you can't take anything home with you. That is standard practice in any facility...
