I am a citizen of EU actually, and the American view of Obama never ceases to amaze me. That's why I'm asking these questions.
Still, no answer yet, only lots of emotions towards Obama and the democrats. I guess each one of you has your special reasons, but my questions are not really answered yet.

Excuse me, but:
1) how is Obama and the Democrats socialists? if they were socialists, they would confiscate everything and prohibit ownership. They would make everything belonging to the state, and there would be only one party to rule.
Obama gave money to the big corporations so as that they do not lay off thousands upon thousands of American workers. This is not a socialist's act.
GM was seized, and was one of the biggest corporations in US history.
Joining the WTO allowed the US to be screwed by overseas
producers that do not have to meet the demands of OSHA, and the
many layers of taxation that cripple many US companies and either
end up closing or offshoring.
State power that is beholden to corporations is more in line with Fascism as Mussolini spoke of, and what we are seeing with first millions in bonuses for corrupt financial pirates, then 100's of millions, then dozens of billions in bonuses is Fascism my EU friend.
2) why not universal health care? the poor guy down the road will attack you if he has nothing to lose.
Again, 220+ years with no free healthcare.
Our healthcare system is broken, and needs fixing that is no doubt.
What is needed like I said in another post is a Co-op like they have at USAA insurance. It works very well, and the ppl in it love it and pay less than any other insurance out there.
Our VA hospitals are SO BAD that they made two movies about them, Article 99 and Born on the 4th of July.
Since they were made it has gotten better, and some states did not have the terrible problems seen in the movies, but a lot did.
3) why is the UN a threat to the US' sovereignty? it is not. The UN can not do anything if the US does not want to.
Perhaps your problem with the UN is that most countries did not agree with the Iraq war plans. Have you ever wondered that they might be right?
It seems there is an awful lot of people in USA that they buy into the right-wing rhetoric. Unfortunately, this rhetoric is seriously warped.
The real problem is the deterioration of the standard of living in USA. People are getting poorer as we speak, and they chose to blame the others for their problem, i.e. the UN, socialism, etc.
The mild issues with the UN
Some of what the UN chooses to ignore
The very best the UN has to offer
Ppl are getting poorer here due to the many layers of taxes
that are put on the ppl directly or indirectly by putting it on the
businesses that in turn pass it on in price increases to the ppl.
The real tax burden in the US
Penn and Teller quote 40% taxation, but in fact it is MUCH higher
when you consider the hidden taxes, licenses, fees, permits, etc etc.
It ends up being more like 80% !
