63,889 Unique Users On ATS/ATSNN, where will it go next?

UPDATE: SEE POST BELOW... www.abovetopsecret.com... yes, I said 41,149 unique users [size=10]in one day! Well, just one day after this thread: www.abovetopsecret.com... (now locked), we have surpassed yesterday's single day record by 26.3%. We had 950 members visiting in one day, and at one point, had 1,037 simultaneous users on the discussion board. During the past two days, we received 307 new members. Our server statistics are just amazing for yesterday: We had 41,149 unique users visit the ATS domain. The users yesterday viewed 11,156 unique pages on ATS For a total of 389,681 page views. 1,103 different URL's referred to ATS, for a total of 34,245 visitors from these referrals. And 912 unique search terms brought 22,336 users from search engines. All of this added up to 14.1 gigabytes of traffic on one day. I'm flabbergasted. Not only am I amazed we're experiencing this kind of sudden growth... but none of it is coming from previous sources of big single-day traffic, links on high-popularity sites. I did a quick check of the logs. Normally, our traffic is something like 60/40... where 60% of all traffic is on the discussion board, and 40% is on the general website content pages. These past two days have seen something closer to 85/15... where 85% of those 41,000+ users have been using the discussion board. (the server is going to need more fans)

Traffic Is Still High We're still getting massive traffic. But thanks to yesterday's code optimization (disabling the tracking of unique guest IPs in the forum), our performance is much better today. It's starting to get repetitive, every week there's a new record broken! I've worked out the numbers, and by the current rate of inflation in the user numbers, we will have over a billion members this time five years from now.

Better get a couple of new fans, and perhaps another gig or two. He he.

The hits just keep on hitting... Yesterday, between all domains, we had 63,889 unique users experiencing the ATS universe. One of the biggest contributors is this excellent ATSNN story and board thread appears TWICE on the first page of search returns on Google, when people search on "video of beheading": www.abovetopsecret.com... (position 4) www.atsnn.com... (position 8) Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get within the first 10 search returns on Google for any topic much less popular breaking news stories. This is just another overwhelming testament to the quality of our members and their contributions to collective knowledge.
