Look at the fresh hell I found:

Did Freepers Kill Nick Berg?
Why We're Not Ruling It Out
By Tamara Baker

They just might be responsible for his death.

Here's the scoop:

According to MaxSpeak, Nick Berg's father, Michael Berg, was placed on an "enemies list" at the FreeRepublic web site on March 7th, 2004:

On March 7, 2004 an "enemies list" composed of signatories to an anti-war
petition was posted on the Free Republic website. The introductory and subsequent comments on that list suggest that the purpose of the posting was to encourage people to harrass the individuals on the list and to circulate their names to agencies and individuals that might take action against them.

Nick Berg's father, Michael Berg was on that list and he named Prometheus Methods Tower Service, Inc. as an affiliation. According to his family on March 24, 2004 -- approximately two weeks after publication of the enemies list on the Free Republic website -- Nick Berg was detained by Iraqi police who handed him over to US forces, he was then held until April 6 when he was released, the day after his family had filed a lawsuit in Philadelphia federal court. Nick Berg was not heard from again after April 9.

Now, Michael Berg is already in hot water with the Freepers -- and his comments to the Associated Press, wherein he blames Bush and the right wing for his son's death, aren't going to make them any happier.

Just you wait.

The denizens of Free Republic ferociously turned on Jessica Lynch on a dime when she dared puncture the racist garbage they had spouted about how her Iraqi doctors cared for her.

I suspect that they'll revive their enemies list and make sure that Michael Berg's name is still on it.

Which is one hell of a way to honor the memory of Michael Berg's son.
americanpolitics.com...

You can yell at me for this too but, I never targeted the Berg family.

I see no freeper wants to take this on. I really consider the freepers a hate group but, that's just me.

Drunk, a freeper is the personification of true evil. See, its a repugnant that is proud to be repugnant and joins this hate group called The Free Republic. They have a website where they lurk to spew their hatred of everyone and anything that is not repugnant.

Good Lord Colonel,
After reading that ill-tampered with factoid, I thought I reading something describing DU.

The DU is a very responsible and informative website. The last of the few websites that actually promote the truth.

Only slightly true, IMHO. I don't care much for freepers because of the many gungho ppl contaminating their board, but I gave DemocraticUnderground a shot a long time ago. They are quite hardheaded and foolish over there... but at least they try. Their stuff on 911 was pretty good, and their exposes of corruption wasn't bad... if not *slightly* biased. I haven't been there since my little 'escapades', but maybe they have changed? Nahhhhh

I will never forget how they reacted to my statements on Israel and Palestine to say one thing. I was being insulted, flamed, outmoded, and downright mocked by an obvious zionist who was upset by my statements, but I was the one who took the brunt of the reprimands as they were handed out. Whatever happened to that little jenn brat anyway? Hmmm...

Oh yeah, and they totally banned me when I posted The Learned Protocols of the Elders of Zion and an analysis talking about the possibility of it being disinfo and true to an extent. Even DU democrats have a limit to free speech, it seems.

If I knew then what I know now about the true source of that document, that being a do-over of Adam Weishaupt's Illuminati papers, I could have done better, though.

The family firm of beheaded American Nick Berg, was named by a conservative website in a list of 'enemies' of the Iraq occupation. That could explain his arrest by Iraqi police --a detention which fatally delayed his planned return from Iraq and may have led directly to his death.

The web traffic to the Free Republic forum --and it's forum membership-- include significant numbers of serving and former US military.

Many members take their online activism very seriously. Some delight in causing mischief for those they think are identified as "enemies."

Within minutes of getting their hands on the antiwar names, one was boasting of having contacted the military about active service personnel who were on the list:
"I forwarded the list to the ISC (the command you listed), the district officer... the district legal office and the investigative services office."
The response:
"The poor moron is not going to know what hit him. Is this being mean-spirited? NO! Someone against our military does not belong in the military!"
Another was already investigating a member of the Coast Guard on the list:
"I took a look at his yahoo and he has a site which is not real fond of the war on drugs OR the war on terrorism.... That particular coastie needs some serious trouble to come his way...."

" I spoke on the phone to a senior chief yesterday in Virginia.... [who] could not believe what the guy was doing. He was both astounded and angry. I think [he] is in for some big, big trouble."

If that list could end up on an Internet forum, then it could just as readily end up with the FBI, and eventually in the hands of those in Iraq who are keen to track or harass antiwar activists entering the country.

Alternatively, the enthusiasts on Free Republic have the contacts and the clear determination to have ensured the list quickly got to the right place.
www.breakfornews.com...

It doesn't stop with these guys does it? The same people who are mourning now may have been the catalyst for his destruction!

That's partially what I mean by the gungho idiots contaminating that board. Forgive them though, as they are foolishly thinking that they are doing the right thing. I am confident that they will learn in time.

A rat will always be a rat even if he is ratting out another rat. Nothing honorable about that, and they should have listened when their parents told them "It's not nice to taddle-tale."

That is their modus operandi. Gotta tell on someone who isn't goose-stepping with the program---ya knw, Brownshirts used to do that too.

Seth, that is precisely why I feel that I have found the balance I am looking for here at ATS. I have never committed so much time to a forum as I have here on ATS, and I can safely say it is both the combination of intelligent people and the willingness to support free speech. I can see what all kinds of people have to say about what they are thinking about, no matter how I may feel about that particular topic. That is what I value the most in a message board: diversity of information.

You are definitely right there, Seth. I was booted from a group back in 2001 when I dared to ask if the theories about 9-11 being 'allowed to happen' could possibly be true. Both KayEm and myself were classed as 'Anti-American' and got the boot.
What was so funny is that the site was originally created by a Canadian who relinquished control to a Brit who both KayEm and myself knew personally. And no, we're not anti-American, we're just anti-arsehole. That means the Bush Administration.

Thanks for posting this, Colonel - more info for the Pisky to digest

DU and freepers are one in the same.

They are both a bunch of innundated idiots and zealots for their causes.

They hate, therefore they are assholes in my book.

Hell, I'm pretty damn conservative and I hate the freepers because they are so intolerant that I was labeled a liberal for disagreeing with them.

I was damn near kicked off DU for the same reason.

# em both.

Now, come on. You probably came across as a freeper and they went oafter you. DU guys aren't rabid like freepers. I saw some of the stuff they posted. Freepers are rabid and very vindicitive.
