MSNBC has been reportig on this story all day and implying that its all about the fact we have a black president. All through the report they mislead the viewer and even the video in the report was edited in such a way you never see that the guy with the gun is black. Do they think people cant check up on this?

There is also an issue with the words they're using to describe the guns. Contessa Brewer claims the guy had a "semi-automatic assault rifle", which is impossible. An assault rifle is by very definition, fully automatic.

MSNBC: No Mention of Black Gun-Owner Among ‘Racist’ Protesters

On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer fretted over health care reform protesters legally carrying guns: "A man at a pro-health care reform rally...wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip...there are questions about whether this has racial overtones....white people showing up with guns." Brewer failed to mention the man she described was black.

They went on to talk to several pundits who all agreed this is all due to the president being black.

Following Brewer’s report, which occurred on the Morning Meeting program, host Dylan Ratigan and MSNBC pop culture analyst Toure discussed the supposed racism involved in the protests. Toure argued: "...there is tremendous anger in this country about government, the way government seems to be taking over the country, anger about a black person being president....we see these hate groups rising up and this is definitely part of that." Ratigan agreed: "...then they get the variable of a black president on top of all these other things and that’s the move – the cherry on top, if you will, to the accumulated frustration for folks."

At no time do they ever mention the fact some of these people are black.

I'll get video up when its available.

That's MSNBC for ya'. If you don't like Obama or his policies it MUST be because of the color of his daddy.
It couldn't possibly be because we are smart enough to see through Obama. Naaaaaaah.

NBC has a clear agenda and bias - NBC hawks pro-obama junk online

Of course MSNBC is misleading people.

That seems to be the logical explanation for all their stories.

Misdirection. Oops. Did I just spill the beans?

MSNBC I thought they had slipped into irrelevance and bankruptcy ages ago? Nope. I guess I'll just keep ignoring them.

One black man does not negate racism as being a possible factor in the mix of reasons that some people have decided to 'protest' with the implication of violence.

This is not to say that I agree that this is all about racism, but I find it ridiculous to hold up a single black man as some disqualifier.

As for the labeling of the weapons:

Assault weapon refers to firearms that had been developed from earlier fully-automatic firearms into semi-automatic civilian-legal versions. Semi-automatic firearms, when fired, automatically extract the spent casing and load the next round into the chamber, ready to fire again; they do not fire automatically like a machine gun, rather, only 1 round is fired with each trigger pull.

This is alarming but unsurprising. MSNBC is a liberal croc-pot of hate mongering.

I would also like to point out that most people will accept this as truth and continue on their day without checking facts.

I find it ridiculous to hold up people who happen to be white and say that they are protesting simply because of skin color. There is no evidence to support that. It's MSNBC deflecting from the issues of the protest and trying to make people out to be racist when in fact they know no such thing.

That's not exclusive to MSNBC.
I've seen some Obama supporters pull that bunk here as well.

MSNBC does not get distracted from their prObama slant on the news with little things like facts. The fact that the right wing racist gun toting protester was black does not enter into their discussion.

Yes, and I agree that 'white and anti-obama' does not equal a racist.

Logic dictates, however, that:

White people can be racist against Blacks.
Some white people do dislike Obama because he is black.
People with these sorts of beliefs would be likely candidates to protest him as President.
Hence, there is no way to claim that a factor in the protests are, at least in some part, small or large, about racism.

It's wrong however, to dismiss the protestors simply as racist, because, that's just as wrong as pretending that racism does not exist.

The truth is alway grey, always complicated. The greatest sin of ignorance is to assume that something is as simple as black or white (no pun intended).

Black people can be racist against blacks.
Lots of black people dislike Bush.

So, the people who dislike Bush must be racist? I don't recall EVER hearing this logic the last 8 years.....

Are you still spewing this crap?

Either you are one angry black person or you are a white person that has been mentally beaten down into thinking that we as a white race must forever be apologitic to the black community and must admit that any disagreement between a white person and a black person is because the white person is a racist.

Either way you need some counseling.

And this children is a perfect example of simple minded ignorance. From his inability to even read my reply or understand it, to his having to resort to insults because he does not understand how to have a conversation.

And it's ironic that you, whom spew vitirol in a clear display of lack of control, see the others around you as needing therapy.

Welcome (again) to ignore.

I thought I was pretty clear about saying that SOME people who dislike Obama could be racist. So yes, SOME people who disliked Bush, did so out of racism as well.

Nice cop out. Could you please provide some evidence tat the media ever once came to the defense of Bush, much less accuse his critics of being racist?

I hope that one day the far left wing of the Democratic party can stop the racist hate speech so we can all come together in this country.

Every time I see the word "Racist" it's coming from a Democrat. Please stop.

It's impossible to discuss anything with someone that cannot read or understand other posts, hence the ignore. I regularly unignore people, but clearly it was a mistake in your case. As for 'calling me out', that's a little hard too, since I never said ALL WHITES are racists. It's about as much nonsense as your little attempt to whitewash me as some sort of angry black man whose posts are nothing but anti-white rants since well, my posts are public record.
