The running total so far for California seems to be about
90 hospitals closed so far.

I imagine other states are impacted as well, but California is likely
bearing the brunt of it.

Fix our own foundation before we worry about our neighbors roof.
Time and time again.
Every human being deserves dignity and respect, but the blunt, honest, and unfortunate side of all this is simply, "We cannot afford it!!"
The hard ass truth of it is, Medical care cost money.
Money we don't have.
Money we are being taxed to fraggin' death for.

There is no answer, unless we eliminate the entire monetary system, or kick out all of the illegal immigrants and make them pay their own way in their own country.
No one is ready for or want any of those options.
The real kicker is the children born of illegal immigrants here as well.
So what is the answer?
Do we kick them all out?
Do we become zenomorphic?
Do we keep on doing what we are doing?
Do we open the flood gates?
Do we nationalize health care?
Do we employ the NAU and let things go from there?
Who the hell has the answers?
No one!!
There is no right or wrong/solve all answer.
We need to be flexible and really change our entire outlook on life and society to make any difference.

Some of you may not want to admit it, but the truth is, we all are suffering from exposure since before birth. Do the research.
The first step is to eliminate a lot of the things that are making people sick.
No more heavy metals, no more carcinogenics, pesticides, fluoride, fossil fuels, etc...
Lets begin there.

It's a daunting task.
Until We, as a people, accept the responsibility for our own society, and break the chains of control, We can't fix anything.
All these problems, we made, You and I, just by not doing anything.

That is the world we live in.

One thing i know as a retired EMT in calif that there are a large number of legal aliens that abuse the system too.
There are some that have good paying jobs that act like they are another illegal so the never have to pay hospital bills.

We had one that we used to pick up on a 911 response that was in the country legal and owned a home new car and boat but the hospital believed he was a illegal for years.
So of us EMTs clued the hospital in to the scam

After about $30,000 in lost payment the hospital hired a privet detective to do a check on the person.

Once they found out he we in the country legally and made good money where he worked the next time he came in for treatment they had him fill out a stack of forms and sign them.
Then they had him arrested for fraud when the information on the forms he signed did not match what the detective had found out about him.

I know there are a number of people in the US legally that pull the same trick.

I believe about 30% are legal and play the system and have good jobs and can pay for insurance and the deductable but scam the system for free medical.

No, it is not at all a joke. The jokes here are the salaries that doctors "earn", the power that Big Pharma has, and the rates for what hospitals *finally* and *eventually* provide. The medical community is a joke.

And might I take this opportunity to remind each and every one of you that *you* weren't invited by the Natives to live there. They never asked your ancestors to visit and they certainly never asked you to stay. You're all illegals. If you think otherwise, I'd love to see how you justify your presence there. Go on. Give it a shot.

And as long as those reductions come from poor, undeducated, brown people it's all ok.

I am grateful that the majority of Americans don't believe this, though sometimes it seems that a majority of Atsers do.

Healthcare shouldn't be a business. But when you worship at the altar of capitalism EVERYTHING is a business, and if for some reason you can't afford to buy what their selling you don't deserve to live.

The reform bill was supposed to address this issue.

I know many hospitals in the south are having issues with this.

but supposedly there aren't enough illegals to hurt the hospitals.

Sure they do its called having an anchor baby. My uncles neighbors are Illegals. They came over the border and had a child. The child is now an American citizen so it qualifies for welfare. They live in a nice middle class house which would be valued at 160k in my area which is about 2000 sqft and brick. So this nice house is provided by section 8 meaning it does not cost them a dime. They get groceries and electricity funded by the tax payers and anything else they can think of. The best part about it is the Husband works under the table and pays nothing in taxes......

My uncle was talking to him one day and He said they were going to have 7 children because with every child the more money they make in benefits...


I wonder whats wrong with this country with people like this. We are going broke and no one wants to admit this stuff is going on. I am so looking forward to the crash because then the crap like this will be taken care of...

I see your point and it makes sense another point is or rather a question is does it cost 24 million a year for eighty dialysis patients. If thats the case then theres another problem. I know medical costs have skyrocketed but 24 mil. is a bit high.

Just another example of why we need to get these illegal aliens out of this country and protect our borders. We are spending all this money and most of them don't pay taxes or contribute. Not only is this a problem with healthcare, it is a problem with welfare, jobs, prisons and the list goes on. Now we have a President that wants to pass a healthcare bill that will allow these illegal aliens to get complete healthcare and on top of it the bill says they have amnesty from having to pay taxes, which would put money towards all we spend on them! This is out of hand and is only getting worse.

You never paid a cent for me, lady. I paid my own way. Hopefully you are this vehement about the billions that are squandered on wars. Somehow I doubt it.

I am also glad I am out of the USA. My quality of life is better. I admit when I first left it felt like the worst thing that could happen. I believed at the time that America was the best place in the world, that life anywhere else would be subpar. Thankfully I was wrong, but it took me living somewhere else to show me. You know what the worst thing was about living somewhere else? People always assume I am American. Hard to escape the stereotypes that a lot of Americans perpetuate to the rest of the world.

Merigold, The USA has laws like any other country. The problem is that illegal immigrants disrespect those laws. Poverty is right here in the USA and these poor people are not getting the free ride the illegals do. You call Americans selfish????? Why should our own families suffer because of the illegals? Are the illegals above us? Are they above the law? Not only do they get freebies, they demand more and more. They stand protesting in the streets, stepping on and burning the American flag, they threaten citizens, yell and scream for us legal citizens to GO HOME! We are home.

Here, there are people who cannot afford healthcare yet their tax dollars pay for other people to have it. That is selfish? Some of the selfish people as you call them, have been generous and kind until they lost jobs and homes. Until they saw their neighborhoods destroyed with graffiti and trash and blasting music, until they saw these so called poor illegals with gas guzzling vehicals, cable television, cell phones, new homes etc. How does a poor person get so far so fast? By stealing social security numbers, by paying big bucks for false documents, by screwing the system that's how. Amnesty for illegals would take away millions of jobs for legal law abiding citizens. What on earth gives them the right?

Here are the facts about illegal immigration

I did a 13 week traveling assignment in Oregon and the hospital there had a way of dealing with illegals and all others who wanted to use the ER like a free clinic.

When you walked in the front door there were 2 desks with an individual sitting behind each desk. There was nothing to differentiate the desks so one would just walk randomly up to one of the desks and tell them why you're there. If you happened to walk up to the ER desk and told them you were there because you had a sore throat, the triage nurse sitting there would say, "that's a clinic problem" and send you 3 feet over to the other desk where you'd have to "pay for services rendered".

You'd still be triaged and see a doctor but you would have to fill out all the forms and pay for your services before you were discharged. Last I heard, that hospital was still doing well financially and had very few illegal invaders sucking up the American healthcare dollars.

For all the latinos who responded, congratulations, you know how to speak english. Now why don't you teach all your fellow latinos who don't how. You would not go to Russia, Japan, India, Vietnam, etc... and expect them to speak spanish because you won't learn their language, why would you do it here. America is a melting pot, always was, people from countries all over the world come here and adopt the culture of the United States, not try to change it into the culture of where they came from. Latino cultures are the only ones to ever come here and try to make this country like their own, rather than adopting our customs. If you like the language and culture of where you came from better than the U.S. culture, then you should probably go back there. Latinos are also the only culture EVER to come to america and display the flags of their former countries, you'll never see a Japanese imigrant with the old rising sun flag hanging in his front yard, OR the mirror of his car. And as for how beneficial it is to learn more languages, if latinos felt the same way, we wouldn't need to adapt to them. How could you honestly criticize americans for not learning spanish, when such a large portion of spanish people won't learn english, and it is the official language here. Ironic and ignorant at the same time
