Alright I am very fed up with rich people that have great health care being enraged with the notion that they will not pay for another persons health care because it is socialist... I am 23 years old and have been on Medicaid since I was 18 and taking off my parents insurance. This is not because I don't work or pay taxes but simply because I can not afford private insurance.

Now first off I am a recovering addict and without medicaid I would have died when I overdosed in 2004. Without Medicaid I would have been pushed off to a hospital that could not treat my Pulmonary Edema. My life was saved because of government run health care.

I for one believe that every American citizens deserves to be insured. To any of you that think our country will be ruined because of this needs to be human for one second and think about their fellows humans. We are not enemies. We are the same as you except we are not as well off. I work just like you do I pay taxes just like you and I would want the same health insurance for you....

Im Canadian. Had health care my entire life. Been to the hospital tens of times in my life either myself, a family member or a friend.

Best part, is when you leave, and it costs you nothing. Ever.

So, YOUR BAD CHOICES have been subsidized by my taxes.

You CHOSE to do drugs, and this caused health problems, but MY TAXES are paying for your rehab and your medical treatment.

Of course you want to keep your free health care going, Me and the rest of the american tax-payers are paying your bills!!!!!

America really has become a nation of leeches, your post is just another example of that.

I'm confused.
Why all the need this recent reform if you already had medicaid?
...and yeah king's right. it can be pretty sweet.
There are premiums to pay in alberta but they're not much and i think in some provinces nonexistent.

Another thing is alottment of money. We don't spend nearly the amount on say, the military that america does. therefore there's more money for health care....where is the money for the new healthcare down there gonna come from? THAT, and apparently being sold something americans, well you anyways, already have, just doesn't make much sense.

Oh no, far from ignorant. I have seen many a people who are addicted to pharma drugs. It is still a CHOICE you made.

Just because a pain killer is prescribed does NOT MEAN you HAVE to take it. There are ways to learn to deal with pain that can reduce the amount of drugs you need to manage it, but again, that too is a CHOICE.

You choose to pollute your body, with whatever substance, legally prescribed or not, rather than choosing to find a healthier alternative.

And you realize that you simply further my point. Once again you reinforce how your bad choices are subsidized by my tax dollars, as I (and other taxed americans) paid not only for the doctor visits, but for your prescriptions too. Our money fed your addiction.

having someone come right out and state that you are an example of the nation of leeches IS SUPPOSED TO BOTHER YOU, but you go ahead, defend your position and rationalize away the FACT that you are an example of an American Leech.

Because as long as it makes YOU feel better, it's all okay, right??

No, I did not miss that you say you are a tax PAYING citizen. So tell me, did you get a refund last year or did you have to write a check and actually PAY taxes with your return??

There is a difference in case you didn't know. Refund means the .gov only BORROWED your money for a while. Having a tax liability higher than the money they take out of your paycheck is being a REAL taxpayer.

So the fact that I was injured and was in so much pain that I had to be placed on pain management at such a young age makes me a leech. You need to learn something about compassion for you fellow man. I have been clean almost two years and yes am still in pain but choose not to "pollute" my body...

as to taxes I get returns... sorry I don't make as much money as you mr high and mighty...

Ya know, it's almost like they prescribe medication so that they can prescribe more medication...it's such a moneymaker.
I think it'd be good for america, if i may, if guys like you who've gotten hooked through prescription drugs paid for by tax dollars to stand up and say it isn't right since you've lived it.
what did the drug do, just regular sketchiness or elephantitis or what?

It is funny that people actually think that the rich are going to pay for the health care or that people with insurance are rich.

The people that will end up covering the cost will be the taxpayers that already pay WAY TOO MUCH for their own piss poor healthcare insurance plans.

They aren't rich. Most of them aren't even well off. They are mostly just getting by or are in debt and scraping to cover those insurance premiums.

You see, once again the rich Democrats and Republicans have found a new way to stick it to the middle class. No need to even base health care on taxes...no.no.no.no....they are now basing it on what you pay for healthcare already! That is the part to be taxed and used to cover the uninsured. Guess what? the ones getting screwed hardest are the ones who are VERY CLOSE to NOT HAVING HEALTHCARE!

Get your self righteous noses out of the air and into the legislation and you will see that the ones who will bear the burden are the ones who will be LEAST ABLE TO AFFORD IT.

Why should we hard working people on the bottom who at least have the guts to keep working and try to hang on to insurance for our families go broke so you can sit on your ass and complain about how selfish we are???

Just out of curiosity, has anyone went through Canada's health care regs and seen what is in it? Would be interesting to see if they have put the same bonehead rules and power grabs in theirs.

Is this sort of attitude (exemplified in your posts) the REAL issue here ?

Is this attitude what's behind all the fussing and wailing ?

YOUR tax dollars ! Wow ! YOUR tax dollars.

Are you honest enough to tell the world how many dollars you pay in tax ?
Or will you exaggerate ?

Do you want to form a country of your own, with YOUR tax dollars ?

Do you have a written guarantee that you have ALWAYS paid tax and always WILL ?

Like most who post in here, will you claim you own your own business (why not make it ten ?) and pay your own and 'your employees' health insurance AND donate to seventy-hundred charities AND rush out at midnight every night to feed the poor, etc. thereby justifying your not wishing for one cent of YOUR tax dollars to go towards nationalised health care ?

Do you have signed affidavits to prove that you have NEVER

* driven while under influence of alcohol

* never cost the nation a cent

* never partaken of any substance whatsoever which had the potential to become addictive

* never stolen one red cent in your ENTIRE LIFE

* never been charged on a misdemeanor

* never received ANY form of assistance from a public hospital for which you did not pay

etc.

What sanctimonious, penny-pinching, mean, stingy, self-righteous, holier than thou posts your appear to be.

Do you go to church three times a week ? Just curious

so you pay taxes...so how are you on medicaid, either you have a mental problem, or you are on welfare. i am in the medical field, anesthesia to be exact, and tax paying citizens with regular jobs do not qualify for medicaid/medicare. you got hooked on pharms, nice to see my tax dollars at work becitsause you have no self control. im glad that government healthcare was able save you, now how about you pay it forward, and get a better job, and get off government run healthcare, that way you can other people like you used to be.sorry if this post offends you, you have no idea how much medicare/medicaid frustrates us.

I have plenty of compassion for my fellow man, I have no compassion for people who play the "poor, poor, pitiful me" routine.

And I have no stomach for leeches who fight to defend their leech activity.

It IS a cruel world, sounds like you need to tough up.

Welll....... for one...

I am glad our tax dollars saved a drug addict. It's nice to meet you.

Insurance for someone 'bout 23 is $80 a month for private, if you live in a liberal state, maybe $100-150 ..

Of course this is assuming you don't have a history of say .... drug abuse...

You're angry because past irresponsibility makes insurance more expensive for you. I personally couldn't care less.

Health care "Reform" needs to occur, to better regulate insurance companies. I agree. What we don't need is a system to give free health care to a certain class of citizens, and super expensive to another. Yes, you may get your health care for free, but the increase in my taxes is far larger than the increases in my premiums. Why should I have to pay for the likes of you?

Oh, and by the way. If it is such a great freaking plan, why this?

"It was announced today on the news that the "Kennedy health care bill" was written into the new health care reform initiative, ensuring that that Congress will be 100% exempt ! "

Oh yes! The selfsame miserable criminals doing this have EXEMPTED themselves from being forced to use the new health reform. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside doesn't it.

Wake up and smell the coffee.
