What the bill says, pages 167-168, section 401, TAX ON INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ACCEPTABLE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE:
‘‘(a) TAX IMPOSED.—In the case of any individual who does not meet the requirements of subsection (d) at any time during the taxable year, there is hereby imposed a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the excess of—

(1) the taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross income for the taxable year, over

(2) the amount of gross income specified in section 6012(a)(1) with respect to the taxpayer. . . .”

EVALUATION OF THE PASSAGE:

1. This section amends the Internal Revenue Code.

2. Anyone caught without acceptable coverage and not in the government plan will pay a special tax.

3. The IRS will be a major enforcement mechanism for the plan.

The IRS part sounds like they will garnish from your paycheck if you don't have insurance.

I just can't see where they are going to get the money to pay for everything. The cost savings they project is based speculation IMO.

Remember them saying if you don't have healthcare, they will be fining you something like $1000...........

Chances are that if people can't afford healthcare, they don't have an extra grand just laying around either, so they will use IRS to get the money.

I'm going to be a smart American. I'm going to not rely on a blog for my information on something, I'm going to go straight to the source which is so readily available right where it is supposed to be on the thomas.loc.gov website. (Link to entire document will be at the bottom of this post for you to really read it too!!)

Sect. 122

(a) In General- In this division, the term `essential benefits package' means health benefits coverage, consistent with standards adopted under section 124 to ensure the provision of quality health care and financial security, that--

(3) does not impose any annual or lifetime limit on the coverage of covered health care items and services;

Sect 123

(b) Duties-

(1) RECOMMENDATIONS ON BENEFIT STANDARDS- The Health Benefits Advisory Committee shall recommend to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (in this subtitle referred to as the `Secretary') benefit standards (as defined in paragraph (4)), and periodic updates to such standards. In developing such recommendations, the Committee shall take into account innovation in health care and consider how such standards could reduce health disparities.

Section 123

Well, yeah. Governments run amok is what I thought we all hope to avoid?

And that's only the first two. This health plan crap has turned the country into a cacophony of maddening howls and screeches as misinformed source after misinformed source purposely (on both sides) exaggerates issues to cause both sides to continue their shrill outrage.

When a blog is misinforming you it is time to ask whether or not you should be angry with the blog, or angry with yourself for believing a third party instead of going to the source that is so readily available and reading it yourself.

I forgot the link
