For starters, a little fun with definitions.

ter⋅ror⋅ist (from dictionary.com)
-noun
2. a person who terrorizes or frightens others.

From Merriam-Webster

: the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion

And then, a little fun with perceptions.

We have learned what the true definition of a terrorist is. We have all been taught to think it's an Arab. I won't mince words here. It's a foreign guy, with an evil squint, probably wearing something wrapping up his hair. He might also be well shaven, to disguise himself as one of us, but he is probably not 'from around here.'

But wait! For a limited time only, if you act NOW, you can have American Born and Raised terrorists. You KNOW who they are. They oppose abortion, they oppose more government control and intrusion, they're Veterans of wars, they oppose healthcare reform, or at least the one offered up. Yup, you see that neighbor of yours? He might be a terrorist.

Given our understanding of the word terrorist, I would like to take a brief second to show you the real face of terrorism.

So...nothing about any of these images does anything to evoke any fear in anyone right? No terror here. Here's how the terror works:

If you disagree, you will be punished. If you speak out, you will be punished. If you think you have rights, you will be punished. If you are a different color, you will be punished. If you are a different religion, you will be punished. If you don't pay your taxes, you property will be seized and you will be punished. If you make waves, ANY waves, you will be punished. You WILL obey.

You will tackled, a knee placed on your throat, beaten into submission and likely killed. "He had a gun. He had a Knife. He made a threatening gesture. He was drunk and belligerent. He was drug addict. He was a homosexual.' If you are not outright beaten and killed, you will be locked up for the rest of your life.

If you are a politician, or a cop....no worries mate, we got your back. 'His actions were justified given the threat. He acted within departmental guidelines. The department spokesperson says that he acted appropriately.'

A nation, a Race, A people, an individual can only be beaten for so long. If you don't kill us, someday you will reap what you have sown.

Look around you, every day and ask yourself, 'who is using terror to get what they want?' 'Who will try to hurt me, or my family if I try to stand up for what I believe in?'

Terrorism doesn't always wear a turban.

No, terrorism doesn't always wear a turban. No, a terrorist doesn't always wear a swastika, nor a badge. A terrorist is anyone whom systematically performs an act of terror.

It is very naive to think that everyone in a certain group is a terrorist, like the Islamic community for example. So to say that 'cops and Government goons are terrorists' is not only completely bias, but untrue.

You cannot label everyone in one group as something, especially a terrorist. It just isn't fair. Would you call me a terrorist? I know you don't know me on a personal level, but would you? Would I be considered a terrorist-to-be since I am going to join the supposed corrupt system of law enforcement?

It isn't fair. Anyone can be a terrorist, but not everyone is a terrorist.

No, Kanji. It isn't 'fair.' It's a shame.

If you belong to a group of people that systematically tries to oppress freedom, or use intimidation and threats of pain or violence to elicit compliance, then, yes, I'm afraid by definition, you would be a terrorist.

Nothing is set in stone. EVERY cop is a terrorist, as much as EVERY person that has beliefs outside of what we are expected to believe is a terrorist.

I have faith that you, my friend, would make the right decision. To stop the trend towards violent oppression, you have to be willing to dance, alone at first, until others join you.

The part you play is yours alone. Remember us when you get that power, Kanji.

I dont know if I would call you a terrorist, but i think the Gov't has their own vague definitions of what a terrorist is, and i think they can make anyone(from any group!) fit into it. Yes, you.

Cops hand me 40 dollar tickets for safely crossing a street. Cops hand me 100 dollar tickets for driving 10 over at 1 am with no one else in site on the road, on the one 5 block section of the road where the speed limit drops. Who are they protecting..?

Drug dealers don't take my cash for no reason, I don't get mugged, no one ever pulls a gun on me or hassles me, ever. Just the cops.

Troops in Afganistan are committing acts of terrorism on the basis that the people there defending themselves from us, are same people who committed acts of terror on 9/11.

You will have no argument from me on that Big.

We are told that we are fighting 'terrorists'...that our rights need to be infringed upon to protect is from 'terrorists'...what 'they' don't mention to us is that 'they' are the terrorists.

Smacking down the citizens of this nation and others, coercing our actions and compliance through threats of violence and sending our sons and daughters to die in foreign lands for their oil, poppies or political gain.

I have more of those "good driving awards" than I can count, Including one I recieved last month.

Just informed that they now cost 150$, and since I was in a construction zone (without workers present) that's double fines!!!(total of 190$).

Court is Thursday, wish me luck. I can't even get a local lawyer because my regular atty is the municipal judge in charge of the case and my alternate is the city prosecutor. 2 others in town are already booked that day.

Now I get to pay a lawyer to drive 50 miles to come to court with me for a #$^&# speeding ticket?

I know I could just pay the ticket, but state law says there have to be workers present to double the fines, so I will pay 500$ to keep the city from getting 30$. I may be stupid, but I am right.

They are banking(literally) on peeps just paying the extra fine so they don't have to miss work, how thoughtful of them.

Maybe I can do 10 days instead of paying fines. make them feed and shelter my a** for their trouble.

A wise man once told me "The nazi's are still here. they just traded in their brown military uniforms for battons, badges, and blue suits and ties."

Standing up with moral certitudes and a little knowledge of the law is still a powerful weapon. Mental and emotional buy in is what fuels their fire. If you remain outside of that and chastise the system from moral high ground it will tend to ring true. These people are living and breathing delusions and if you support their delusions you will strengthen their resolve. If you diffuse their delusions with justice and humanity you will help them to get freedom from their delusions.

This thread is filled with ignorance. The same ignorance that our so called oppressors label us as.

You are telling Bushido will become a terrorist if he becomes a cop? "Cops" are an essential part to society, and never will be abolished.

Oh, guess what I want to do when I am older? Become a banker/stock broker/some sort of investment field. The same people who helped screw this country.

But why should I care for you if you do not care for me? It is THAT logic that you are portraying, and it is the same logic your so called oppressors are using.

You are on the same side of the coin as any bad guy in this world, except they are on the quarters, and you are on the penny.

Those cops that went into the towers to rescue people were also terrorists I suppose, those who show up to help someone who is being robbed, those dying for not near the amount of money that celebrities and athletes make, all must be terrorist. I would like to see this country in a lawless world. Somebody has had one to many speeding tickets. Who will you call when someone is breaking down your door to do you harm? Don't call the police.

Hey now, I know this is an emotional topic for both sides, but please keep it a step below personal. I know I kind of jumped the gun by bringing myself into it, but that doesn't make the OP any less valid.

He has an opinion, and so do we. And although we disagree, we can show it without emotions raging. I am just trying to stop this topic from being removed or something because it got too personal. It is a good topic for debate, so let's work together to keep it that way.

I made my stance as you did yours, so let's allow them to show their side of the argument. Hopefully they don't get too into it, I don't want it to turn into this topic:

You know, an opinion can be wrong.

Opinions lead people to do certain actions.

Were Hitlers opinions fair?

Fair that he had them, but not fair in the sense of what they represented.

That is true about Hitler's opinions.

Not all opinions are right, but all have a right to their opinion and we should respect that. You can argue your side without making it personal
You only hurt your cause if you bring emotions into this, I should know; that is the basis of every argument I ever get in!
