Yet another video has emerged of cops tasering someone for sitting in the wrong seat at a sports event. The victim this time was an old man attending an Oakland Athletics baseball game in Oakland California.

The man tased by cops was 62-year-old Thomas Bruso, who apparently was sitting in the wrong seat and was drinking alcohol. Police claimed that the man was not “complying” with attempts to arrest him so the crowd was cleared and he was tasered from behind.

Another man is seen being pushed down the stairs as the situation escalates.

“While the man is clearly uncooperative and perhaps belligerent, it is unclear why a shot of 50,000 volts was needed,” comments Constitutional lawyer Jonathan Turley.

As the incident unfolded an observer in the crowd commented, “C’mon, take it easy on him….I can’t believe you guys tased him.”

“This individual is not a small person,” said Ofc. Jeff Thomason. “He is 6-foot-1, 280 pounds, so getting in a fight with an individual like this is not in the officer’s best interest.”

However, as the video shows, the cops attempted to arrest the man for barely a minute before resorting to using the taser. The man was resisting arrest but he was not in a “fight” with the cops as Thomason implies.

This is not the first time that police have deployed a taser on someone for sitting in the wrong seat at a sports event.

In a far more disturbing case last year, Wisconsin police were caught on camera tasering a 54-year-old woman at a football game in Madison.

Margaret Hiebing, a veteran Badger season ticket holder, was ejected from the Camp Randall stadium during the Oct. 11 game against Penn State after she was found sitting in the wrong seat, reported WKOW 27 News.

Hiebing had taken a different seat because someone else had occupied her usual place at the packed game.

When police approached Mrs Hiebing she explained the situation and refused to leave. Onlookers began to berate the cops after one of them reportedly threatened Hiebing with pepper spray.
One witness filmed the altercation on a cell phone, evidence which would later dispel initial police claims that Hiebing was causing an obstruction by sitting in the aisle. Police then forced Hiebing face down on the ground and tased her on the back of the leg, confining her to a wheelchair because she was unable to walk out of the stadium.

Both these cases, and hundreds more that have occurred down the years, illustrate that the taser, far from being a cop’s last line of defense against a dangerous individual, is being used as a torture device for the purposes of pain compliance – merely forcing the victim to submit to the officer’s demands whether they pose a physical threat to the cop or not.www.infowars.com... -in-wrong-seat-at-baseball-game/

Just to play Devil's Advocate, the guy wouldn't move when 3 guards were telling him to. He was obviously in the wrong seat and wouldn't budge. I suppose the officers could have physically dragged him out of the seat and forcibly cuffed him and then drop him off outside the park.

What would you have done?

What a criminal master mind. God help us if he would've found a better seat closer to the field. We'd all be in big trouble. So what was the big deal, there was like tons of free seats around the guy, was he stinking up the place?
We need to turn tables on the LEO's and start carrying tazers too. Then we can tazer them just for the hell of it just like they do.

Pigs. What goes around comes around.

He could have gotten up and moved, they could have walked away. One of these days the crowd isn't going to be so understanding.

He’s in the WRONG FREAKING SEAT AT A BALL GAME and there are open seats all around him!!!

WHAT IS UP WITH THIS PEOPLE!!!

There is something just so wrong with this I can’t even believe my eyes.

I’m telling you people, this is wrong - and wrong in a deeper sense than we think.

What do I see?

I see cops told to go out there and make the public very aware and in very public ways that they are slaves.

To use each and every innocuous situation possible to reaffirm to the American people they are DONE FOR.

I can’t believe I sound like Alex Jones, but take a look at that video and tell me he isn’t right on some level.

There is NO WAY this is just a case of an old guy, in the (Oh My God) in the wrong seat at a baseball game, that gets tazed.

You people either need to do something about this or get the hell out while you still can.

peace

Exactly what i thought, people to carry their own tazers and dish out their own interpretative justice to the supposed LEO's.

A shame ATS doesn't allow profanity, as my words would have far more meaning

Edit: Removed my petulant remark, but i still think control freaks like this are a bunch of *******

I really don't understand what goes on in these people's minds. It really makes me sick to my stomach and the worst thing is that you see these videos popping up everywhere, this seems to be common practice nowadays. I bet none of those cops would still defend using these methods if it actually happened to a member of their family or someone else they care about, though. Maybe they should stop and think about that instead of continuing their mindless power trip.

I would dearly love to stab these idiots in the face if they tried that on me.

We do NOT go around tazering cops.

We do NOT swear at them, swearing is a sign of ignorance.

We DO NOT even THINK about *knifing cops in the face*!

What we do is stand up for our rights, and what is fare and just and true and remember you are FREE AMERICAN'S not some third world underlings that have no say and have to bow down to the police, the elite, like little female dogs peeing themselves in submission!

The cops have no right to use tazers as an immediate form of punishment for non-lethal non-compliance!!!.

This has to end...

peace

I would love to see the Oakland A's respond to this with a promotional night: Taser Night!!!
Maybe they can even get some cops to participate as targets...maybe then we could not have such hard feelings

All kidding aside, when will they remove these worthless weapons from the police arsenal. I believe that if, as a police officer, your dominant presence (along with your backup) is not persuasive enough to control a relatively harmless individual, then you pick the wrong profession...maybe some of these cops should be selling doughnuts instead of eating them.

If you think there is nothing wrong with this video you don't deserve to be called an American. Disgusting pigs! To taser a man minding his own business with plenty of open seats around him in front of young people and kids.
This country has gone to crap! It would have taken a lot restraint for me not to fight those cops.

Here's how it works -

You publicly beat down the misbehaving monkey in the most humiliating manner possible so that all the other monkeys can see it.

That way all the other monkeys will learn not to do what the bad monkey did.

Monkeys are usually smart enough to respond that way ...

Unfortunately, monkeys are not quite smart enough to realize they outnumbered the gestapo about 10,000-to-1 ...

Sad ...

Every video like this make the police look worse. It is getting to the point where people are seeing and learning what is up. Now there are very good officers out there that do the right thing, but there seems to be a growing group of officers that think what ever they do is ok. And then they lie about what happened and are getting caught.

What is happening now is people are and have lost there trust in what the officers are saying and doing. Now that this has happened no one is just going to take what they are told and go away. Now the police and there leaders behind them are having to prove to the American people that they are in the right. And that is a good thing as I see it.
And do not think this is not getting to the everyday people in this country, I have been taking note of what is being said about the police and how people are reacting around them.
What is being said really surprised me as people as a group are really upset at what has been going on. And are starting to take action in every way they can.

But the main thing is they are recording what the officers are doing, and watching what is up around them. I can see where we are just seeing the beginning of the films that are put up for all to see.
I was stopped by a traffic issue up in front of me the other day and while waiting I was looking around at what was up, and what I saw made me smile. In two of the cars there where passengers filming what was being done in front of us. Not that there was anything wrong , it was just that now people are filming just about anything to do with the police! And that is what needs to be done, keep filming and recording what is up, just like they do to us and this will come to a stop. As every miss step they make will be logged and brought out for all to see. If they did it right then there is nothing to worry about. But if they did something wrong that was not just a mistake then it will help the ones it happened to!

Clearly the establishment has set out on an irreversible course of prodding the masses ( US !! ) to open rebellion.

It's inevetible and all the system's 'assets' are in place for an overwhelming response.

Welcome the the end-game ...

I think you have to question the officers intelligence....how do idiots like these guys get into the force?...There are plenty of empty seats around the guy,I really don't understand what trouble he is causing here. Was there any need to taser him in the back?he looked like he was in cuffs at the time.

Yeah, but if you stand up for your rights you get Tasered...
I agree Taser shouldn't be used as an immediate form of punishment or for less than lethal non-compliance! It shouldn't be used at all, being electrocuted is cruel and unusual punishment, and degrading to human dignity.

In 2007 a United Nations committee said that use of Taser weapons can be a form of torture, in violation of the U.N. Convention Against Torture.

My question would be how do you fight back legally to get Taser's removed from police departments, I would think there needs to be a central hub for those against law enforcement using Taser. It seems the ACLU is not doing their job.

I also think law enforcement has become physically soft and rely on Tasers to much, they lack hand to hand combat, control and restraint techniques, especially when it comes to the handicap, old men and women etc...truly sad.

I don’t know.
Sadly I just don’t know.
If I did I’d probably move back to the States and help do it - whatever *it* is.

Man, that dude at the baseball game was taser-proof. He was like DeNiro in The Untouchables saying "you got nuttin!" as they were trying to light him up.
Not funny, but funny.

Steps taken,

1) Ask "hardened criminal" to leave

2) Place hand on hardened criminal (with a bit of directed guidance) and ask again.

3) When hardened criminal swats your "guidance" away, remind him that he is now committing assault, and you can respond in "kind", and attempt the procedure 2 again.

4) When hardened criminal blows the "winky" from his nose, with his hand, and three police officers who are trained in "minimal force" to effect their cause, establish that hardened criminal posed too great a threat, then step 5.

5) Taser hardened criminal and make an example out of him.

I've been in the security industry for 15 years. One decently trained security officer should have been able to relinquish the seat to the proper owner. 3 highly trained police officers should have NOT have had to use a taser. This was disgusting.

I mean, if they didn't have the taser, would they have shot him? Probably not. They would have done the old fashioned joint manipulation, arm bar escort or some other manipulative minimum force tactic.

The taser is a great idea for less than lethal force. For highly combative yet non life threatening individuals.
Not for "winky" tooting hardened criminals. (Not a hardened criminal at all, for those who could NOT detect sarcasm).

Obviously, it's the training officers are receiving, that is the problem. I think, if police were unable to carry any weapon other than a flashlight, for their first year, (with an "armed" partner of course) then they would have to learn how to use other tools in their arsenal.
Rather than relying on a taser when they can't effect their cause, after being "winky'd".

Did you see him thumbing his nose at them. He was like 'neener neener' or something. It was awesome. I wish he didn't get tazed, well...I guess that could have been interpreted as a weapon or something...'the belligerent, drunken, dissenter raised his hand in a threatening manner.'
