I remember a few years ago watching a UFO TV show and on it was a guy From LA or something going on about these white rods that flew fast and were mainly noticed on slowed down video footage. It sounded guff to me until today.

The Daily Mail in Britain reported today that such a rod was seen on a BBC report shown here BBC video page

I had a look on the internet for some footage from the show I saw those years ago. I couldnt find it or remember what that guy called them them but i did find this from six years ago in Canada. six year ago video

What do you make of it all? UFO's? An undiscovered spieces of something?

Rods were totally debunked as birds, bats or insects in this video, right?

It's not always easy to debunk UFO sightings but rods have been debunked pretty well in that video.

dang, rods proven to be the product of slow cameras, nice.. I never knew what rods were, had an open mind, but looks like they disproved them as paranormal.

It is an interesting phenomena, I have may theories ranging from unknown insects to hyperdimensional animals---even to regular insects filmed a certain way that makes them appear different. Here is a good ATS thread on it:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Here is a detailed ROD report: www.coasttocoastam.com...

Please tell me it's not true......

Please tell me you're not into rods.....

Wow, I feel like a idiot,lol...I did not realize Monsterquest had actually came out with that(as well the Chinese experiments). It works for me, lol....You always learn something on ATS. Thanks for that, I had no idea, and honestly i had not really kept up with the "rod" phenomena for sometime. Thanks again,

Yea, I had not even heard of the studies done. I did not even keep up with the whole rod thing for quite some time. So I guess we can all learn something from this: Do not jump in and offer an opinion on something unless you have ALL the recent facts. LOL, because you may fee like a complete idiot.

I had always thought it was quite possible a camera phenomena (motion blur), but some of those images looked quite convincing (not only to me but many others). Anyways I am the first to admit a mistake and accept a normal explanation.

If its not a bug there is a strong possibility of the 300mps Tesla air torpedo
or zeppelin being operational.

Yeah get the bugs out of the camera lens.

Actually you seem like a smart person, which is why I gave you the benefit of the doubt and assumed you hadn't seen that monsterquest video. Now that you've seen it and accepted their experiment you've affirmed my belief that you're a smart person.

Now I hope mods won't delete this post for a personal attack, but I just have to say if someone still thinks rods are something special AFTER seeing that video, well, maybe they aren't so smart.

Thanks for re-affirming my faith in you jkrog!

Wow, thanks for your kind words, I really looked like a complete idiot though, lol and I posted it on the forum--the very forum I love. I surely won't make that mistake again.
But yes I did realize you did post that video in a nice but educating manner. I THANK YOU for that, I just never kept up with the whole rod thing and stupidly assumed it was still unsolved, but oh well we all make mistakes, that was mine.

Either that or so stuck in their ways that they refuse to change their beliefs in light of legitimate science.

Wow, thanks for your kind words

I mean it sincerely that you're smart jkrog, you have done some of the most thorough, best documented UFO posts I've ever seen so I know you pay attention to detail and look at evidence closely which demonstrates your intelligent analysis.

I would just ask that you keep this incident in mind as we examine the UFO evidence. Specifically:

-The saying "cameras don't lie" can't really be accepted as a fact. They record to the best of their ability, but their recording abilities are only truly understood by (as far as I can tell) an exceedingly small minority of the population. In one episode similar to the video I posted, they interviewed a technical expert for the company that makes the cameras and he explained some things that even I didn't know about false images the camera can produce, and exactly why that happens, and I'm up to speed on camera artifacts and aberrations more than most people. Another example related to this is a video of a car sowing it has 8 wheels in freeze frame when we know the car only has 4 wheels. It's easy to dismiss effects on familiar objects like that, but for some reason we want to think we've photographed something mysterious on less familiar objects.

-We need to keep our minds open in BOTH directions, to the extraordinary, but also to the ordinary. I think you do this already to a large extent, more than many and I compliment you on that. But when it comes to evaluating the likelihood of two possible explanations, one ordinary and one extraordinary, I do think Ockham's razor could be applied a bit more to say that it's not unreasonable to have a strong bias for the more ordinary explanations of unknown sightings.

Anyway you've taught me so much with your great UFO posts that I'm glad I could return the favor and post something you hadn't seen yet!

Well taken, well taken...I think these series of posts should show EVERYONE how NO ONE knows everything, and how ANYONE can learn from another.
I for one am glad YOU are a member of this great site.
