New Tamil Tiger head arrested: Sri Lanka military

COLOMBO (Reuters) -- The new head of the Tamil Tigers, the separatist group defeated by the Sri Lankan military after a 25-year war, has been arrested in Thailand, Sri Lanka's military said on Thursday.

Selvarajah Pathmanathan was wanted on two Interpol warrants and took the reins of the remnants of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) after their defeat in May.

"He has been arrested in Bangkok. That is all we know at the moment," military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

Being that this global war is at such an advanced stage it is not surprising to see this guy fall so quickly. But what is surprising is the idiocy. None of these groups has any chance of victory, but since they've put all that they are into the success of these causes they don't have any other choice but to go down in flames even when given the chance to walk away.

I suppose that at least for the sake of the Tamils as a group of peope that Tamilnet is still up and running. I just hope they aren't too overcome with grief to not reconcile with the rest of the Sri Lankan people.
