Sorry Mods is slightly off topic but since the best way to get out the word is through the medium of music its kinda on topic too.
I use fruity loops and cubase vst. You can download fruity loops from
here and also get a few samples to get you
started.
And Cubase SX (VST) from
here , probably your best choice, you can remix your own tunes
and connect your midi gear. To get started, once its running click on file (top left of screen), 24 track recorder, then where you want your files
saved and your almost ready to go so just change your bpm to whatever speed you wish your track to be (this is done on the little transport
player).
Also on the transport player change the bar size to "bars and beats" click on the upside down triangle next to the keynote.
To change the bpm speed of samples click on the arrow icon (top middle of screen) and change to "sizing applies time stretch" and then just change
your samples to the correct size and speed.
