MOSCOW (Reuters) - A year after fighting a war with Georgia, Russia strengthened the combat readiness of its troops in the rebel region of South Ossetia on Tuesday and warned the United States against rearming Georgia.
"Provocations from the Georgian side ... are not stopping," Andrei Nesterenko, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman, said in a statement. "In connection with this, we have stepped up the combat readiness of Russian troops and border guards."
Tension has been rising in South Ossetia ahead of the August 7 anniversary of the war, which began when Georgian forces launched

but as of right now the Russians ar just doing some muscle flexing and putting on a good show , just like with the 2 nuke powered subs patrolling off the coast of the us, seriously lol. they have not moved into an offense or even a defense posture that would concern anyone as of yet , they are just preparing themselves for the just in case scenarios, witch is a wise precaution

Those are two nuclear powered attack subs and that article was from 2000. I think Russia would have more than just two subs operating in the Atlantic at this time conducting recon.

Why would Russia care if Israel dropped nukes? If Israel did that, they would be commiting suicide because everyone in the world who has half of brain will do everything possible to dismantle such a dangerous group of zealots.
In fact, let arrogant Israel drop the bomb. Maybe that's the unification that the world finally needs to end the hypocracy of the past.

Either way, it's beside the point. Suckassvilli keeps attacking civilians and he's going to get his ass handed to him again. Maybe this time Russia will do the right thing and liberate Georgia by capturing/assassinating Saakashvili with an airbourne spetsnaz or VDV assault on his HQ, just like 1970s Afghanistan.

I don't think anything will happen with Georgia.
The two republics (South Ossetia and Abkhazia) who actually wanted Russian support and want to be republics of Russia now are protected by Russia and can now peruse their own path. I doubt Russia wants any more of Georgia, because obviously there would be widespread public dissent if they occupy any other regions of Georgia. In fact it is much better for them to let things remain the way they are, as Saakashvili is increasingly unpopular in Georgia. They would get nothing from attacking Georgia again, and unless the Georgians do something really stupid, nothing will happen there.

Israel has HUNDREDS of nukes and plenty on ICBMs. Russia is well within range of those nukes and while no one really talks about it, Israal can nuke Russia anytime they want. And if Israel is about to be destroyed anyway, then why not take Russia as well.
Russia is NOT immune from Israeli nukes.

what concerns me is if Georgia joins NATO ,witch is highly possible , they attack again , and Russia invades Georgia or even launches airtstrikes on Georgia, then by doctrine the U.S.A. and most of Europe will be in a defacto state of war with Russia. That will lead to all kinds of problems in witch both sides will not like
