AP ENTERPRISE: Biggest revenue drop since 1932

hosted.ap.org

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The recession is starving the government of tax revenue, just as the president and Congress are piling a major expansion of health care and other programs on the nation's plate and struggling to find money to pay the tab.

The numbers could hardly be more stark: Tax receipts are on pace to drop 18 percent this year, the biggest single-year decline since the Great Depression, while the federal deficit balloons to a record $1.8 trillion.

Okay, so let me get this straight. We have a record breaking national deficit. States are fighting huge shortcomings in their tax revenues. Businesses are laying of droves of workers. The US exports are dwindling down to near nothing. People are not paying taxes but yet in all of this the Federal Government is spending more and more money.

This logic does not make any sense to me. How could these stories of the "recession" being almost over have any substance at all?

This "recession" is far from over. Too much manipulation going on in both the media and the government to know how bad we really are off.
