I agree with you that success has nothing to do with it. That is a value judgment. The uni bomber was successful at killing people to make a point. They called him a genius. 167 IQ too. But I believe his writings may have led to some efforts at change like he wanted. At least he had people who agreed with him. They wouldn't have gone to the lengths he did to make that point.

Fair enough. What then is "success"? Recognition? Income? Flattening as many foes as possible? Who's to tell a genius where they're successful?
I suppose by the usual occidental standards Tesla was somewhat of a failure. His success is that his legacy lives and impacts our lives to this day, if only because he was so right on about the A/C thing.
