In a daring experiment in Europe, scientists used mosquitoes as flying needles to deliver a "vaccine" of live malaria parasites through their bites. The results were astounding: Everyone in the vaccine group acquired immunity to malaria; everyone in a non-vaccinated comparison group did not, and developed malaria when exposed to the parasites later.

Once they weaponize mosquitoes nobody will have a chance unless they wear electrified bodysuits and sleep in malaria tents.

Why are they messing around with nature? Nothing good comes out of that.

For all we know this will make malaria more powerful if it develops an resistance through manipulation.

nah thats impossible, stuff liek this can never backfire.

I wonder if this may actually turn out to be a good vaccine?
I bet its impossible to add thimerosal/squalene to a live mosquito without killing it...So maybe this would be a "safe" vaccine?
To wipe out malaria would be amazing,although I'm not sure TPTB would be in favour of saving so many 3rd world lives what with their history of trying to curtail populations in the 3rd word.

this headline is misleading, they were building up immunity by gradual and attenuated (through chloroquinone) exposure to the real thing.

iow, the mosquitoes remained unaltered.
