AT&T Reportedly Blocks 4Chan. This Is Going To Get Ugly.

It's not what they have done, but what they can do when they get serious. There are some very powerful hackers on 4chan who can do things most people would think to be impossible. When they're disorganized, they can do things like raid Habbo Hotel and influence the TIME list. When they have moot telling them what to do (coupled on with the possibility of being mentioned on The Daily Show), there's no telling what they may be capable of.

What it ridiculous is not supporting a site... then defending it. If you don't know anything about it, why are you defending it for cripes sake?

It's sites like this that will get the Internet monitored with reduced access. This site is full of porn, bestiality, pedophilia and worse. There is no checks... you can just waltz right in. There are viruses galore as well.

Maybe some day, people will see it's sites like these, and games like GTA, that will be the linchpins in bringing down further freedoms. If you want depravity, do it on your own time, with pay services. Supporting crap like this is what is going to make the Internet a pain in the ass to use at all, and you idiots will be screaming then, I'm sure.

What is to stop a 12 yo from visiting this site.. and seeing the worst of the worst, from suicide videos, to porn, to worse? Nothing. And people complain about it. Unreal.

I agree that there is much potential but we're talking about AT&T here and to reference another poster...not scientology. It's a huge corporation that I think is untouchable. It would be wonderful if it wasn't but I think this is a case where Goliath will triumph.

2) Dont even talk bad on GTA - it has nothing to do with this (whats your agenda anyway?)

Hahaha, This is shaping up to be an internet revolution on an epic scale not yet experienced. All the internet traffic kind of reminds me of the Iranian situation a few weeks ago on a very nerdy and ridiculous level. Man, I'm so excited to see what comes of this and 4chan is going to destroy AT&T. They're already working on ways to manipulate AT&T's stock price and they've completely knocked out AT&T's customer service center.

4chan.

1) Apparently you dont know anything about it either.
2) There are checks, you agree to the terms and conditions to the sites k-18 boards. This is way more than most sites. Also the content is moderated and illegal material gets deleted / poster banned.
3) You may do your deprativity as you wish. If you want privacy then fine, dont force your morals on other people. We have every right to assemble for our deprativity.
4) Parents. If not then they deserve every bit of trauma they get.

Umm I don't know if you just let your kids do what they want or what but all I know is I have a young child and watch what she does on the net. Thats what stops my kids from seeing that stuff.

I don't agree with censorship, sorry. I also support games like GTA. If they can do it in movies they can do it in games. I just won't let my child play them until shes like 17, if shes even into video games which I doudt she will be. Sorry but its up to us PARENTS to raise our kids. We don't need corporations doing it for us. I'm not some christian fundamentalist.

And I'm pretty sure (i don't know) when illegal stuff like child porn gets posted on there it gets pulled by the mods.

Posting child pornography is strictly prohibited on the site and will earn you a permanent ban. Otherwise, nothing else you've stated is illegal to look at.

It's the responsibility of the parent to be monitoring what their child is viewing on the internet. Why should a website be censored for everyone because of the possibility of a child (who isn't supposed to be there) seeing it? That's like taking glue off the shelves because a child might eat it.

However, if you're talking about your non-support of the site simply because YOU don't enjoy viewing the kinds of things that are posted, then simply don't go to the site.

Well, you implied that these people are powerless against a corporation, and I referenced their protests of the most expensive church to be associated with in the world. The comparison was an attempt at clarifying your view of what these people can do.

they were already posting the personal phone # and addresses of the CEO of AT&T all over the place - and this is just within a few hours...

It's come to our attention that AT&T is filtering/blocking img.4chan.org (/b/ & /r9k/) for many of their customers. There is no remedy at this time.

If you've been affected, I would advise you call or write customer support and corporate immediately.

The only thing stopping hackers from doing much right now is that they have no purpose. If AT&T gives them a purpose, I know there will be hundreds of deeply skilled hackers willing to do whatever it is they need to do.

For some delusional people, 4chan, and even /b/ itself, is life. What would you do if they took away your life?

I have confirmed it. I went to /b/ to check, and it has loaded fine for me. Does this mean that AT&T is backing off? Will they release a statement saying they made a mistake, or will they try to ignore it?

I guess they saw the error of their ways. Lets see how long it takes for things to cool down. There's probably going to be some people who wont forget this easily

I'm reading all the web traffic for 4chan and these people are serious. They're preparing to shut down the entire AT&T network and to completely # over their iPhones. Simply incredible.

You have to wonder if the damage has already been done. You don't go rob a store, have the owner of the store call the police, then bring back the item and be all "I'm sorry, please don't arrest me." There are going to be some bitter posters there who will still do something.

Is there anything on that site that isn't depraved and sick you can't get from another site? No.. no there isn't. Censorship? Look.. the Internet is nothing like we have had in the past. Parents stopping kids. Are you effing kidding me? Even the most diligent parent can't stop a kid from visiting sites like these. Internet cafes, libraries, schools, you name it... they can get to this stuff. I am in the computing industry. I've seen first hand, how computer unsavvy these folks are (parents), and you can't blame them for not stopping what they have no idea about.

Someone told me about 4chan in regards to some Anime stuff. I checked it out. I was sick when I left, and I have not gone back. I visited only a few of the "channels," and I saw someone sawing the head off of a live pig, bestiality, pedophilia, scat, etc... in I dunno.. 10 minutes? You can completely f-up a kid for the rest of their lives on that site. If you don't think seeing a soldier, an icon of supposedly, all that is good and strong in our country, tie a bomb to a puppy, and kill it, won't screw up that kid forever, you have no clue in hell about life.

Now, people want to restrict access to this site.. and you protest? Why? Oh yes. I'd guess because you visit it, love all the depraved crap, and support it. You don't have kids. Wait.. you do? Oh.. you are an ignorant fool the. "Johnny.. don't you dare visit those sites! Ok dad!" And then 1 hour later, he is at his buddies house, checking it all out.

Before the Internet, did kids have access to videos of people killing others, themselves, disasters, tragic accidents, bestiality, pedophilia.. on ONE EASY TO ACCESS LOCATION? No.. they didn't. Censorship? The rules must change. They must, to keep up with changing technology.

If you are a sane, caring person... how in the hell could you support this site? Are you flipping insane? I am all for freedom, rights, non-censorship... but the rules HAVE CHANGED. If you cannot see this, you are either stupid, or ignoring the truth, because it benefits you. i.e. you visit these sites, and like them.

A bunch of Anon are posting sensitive info from AT&T and all their server and IP info on the net. It looks like a show of force as if to say "Don't # With Us" right now. AT&T really did the smart thing here because if they kept this up until morning their network would've been shut down and the worst kind of hell a company can have would have broken out tomorrow. Not to mention I'm sure there's plenty of Anon working inside of AT&T
