I disagree with you.

He is trying to play big man now....

The best thing to do is to still treat him like the little tin-plated dictator that he is.

I am not sure why the majority of people seem to believe that North Korea is no threat to the US and that the US would just spank North Koreas butt?
Hmm, same thing that the US thought about for instance Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. Not seeing a quick in and out butt smacking in any of those cases.
THe US military is heavily deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq and loads of other countries.

North Korea has 1,170,000 active military soldiers as well as 4,700,000 trained military reserves.

If by ass smacking you mean just nuke the hell outta the place that may work, but the costs of doing something that drastic would be very bad.
However North Korea is "dug in". There are miles and miles of bunkers and tunnels supposedly.

I find it hiilarious how American's think they can just hand any country their ass. It is thinking in that fasion that is your downfall.

Here is a good site that compares every countries power.

Yeah I definitely see a proxy war. China has been pissed at the US for years over Taiwan (among other things), and the North/South Korea thing really gives China an opportunity to stick it to the US without getting their hands publicly dirty, and the fact is NK has nothing else but a proxy war to offer China, so it's not like China would really care morally if NK got their **ses handed to them.

Exactly my thoughts you are right on the money when it comes to Taiwan and North Korea. Never ever under estimate your enemy no matter how ridiculous the sentiment may be. ^Y^

In a ground war, with tanks and troops on the ground, yes, their military "could" do serious damage....

If, and I meean "IF", US does attack, it won't be on the ground.

It will be with missiles/fighters/bombers......

So the real issues are, as I see it:

If we send men on the ground their, we will take a bloddy nose for it-not lose, but take a beating....

If we don't, we may lose a few planes/missiles from their air defence, but they would be uttlerly distroyed-using nuclear or non-nuclear weapons.
