This was a position of majority of Religious Jewish movements in early 20th century. They opposed Zionist ideas and pressured for two-nations state,
if any. This was because they (correctly) stated that creating "new" Jew would not stop anti-semitism - and at least some posters on ATS prove them
right
- and because in the Messiah prophecy Jews should be brought to Israel by Messiah and it would be wrong o create a state without God's
approval. Now only few religious movements hold opinion that Israel should not exist, like Naturei Karta and such.
However the valid arguement between religious to Zionist Jews about creation of Israel is not comparable to current situation. State and independance
is not something that can be turned off and on at will. By harming Israeli status he achieves nothing positive for his nation - or for Palestinians by
the way. Independent Palestine would not exist a decade without Israel beside it.
