Well I would suppose that means that the other 75% are highly intelligent. And don't watch horrible conspiracy videos on youtube that would have a hard time convincing a snail.

IMO.

According to the History Channel...

"We are now celebrating the 40th anniversary of the so called first moon landing, but 20% or 60 million Americans do not believe it...."

The moon is seen as a triumph of the US government,

Why would anyone believe in what the government did when they hate it so much?

With lower legitimacy comes lower legitimacy in what the government did.

Walson? You're using Walson's garbage? Actually he ripped that clip off from Sibrel's "creatively" edited version of the entire speech.

Thank you, Mr. Vice President, Mr. President, members of Congress, fellow astronauts, ladies and gentlemen.

Wilbur Wright once noted that the only bird that cold talk was the parrot, and he didn't fly very well. So I'll be brief. This week America has been recalling the Apollo program and reliving the memories of those times in which so many of us here, colleagues here in the first rows, were immersed. Our old astrogeology mentor, Gene Shoemaker, even called in one of his comets to mark the occasion with spectacular Jovian fireworks. And reminding us once again of the power and consequence of celestial extracurricular activities.

Many Americans were part of Apollo, about one or two in each thousand citizens, all across the country. They were asked by their country to do the impossible--to envisage the design and to build a method of breaking the bonds of earth's gravity and then sally forth to visit another heavenly body. The principal elements--leaving earth, navigating in space and descending to a planet unencumbered with runways and traffic control--would include major requirements necessary for a space-faring people.

Today a space shuttle flies overhead with an international crew. A number of countries have international space programs. During the space age we have increased our knowledge of our universe a thousand-fold.

Today we have with us a group of students, among America's best. To you we say we have only completed a beginning. We leave you much that is undone. There are great ideas undiscovered, breakthroughs available to those who can remove one of the truth's protective layers. There are many places to go beyond belief. Those challenges are yours--in many fields, not the least of which is space, because there lies human destiny.

thomas.loc.gov...:E20JY4-119:

Taken in context, the speech was meant to inspire the kids he was talking to to take what he and others had already accomplished to new and higher levels.

Pasley said the moon landing hoax theory is the third most popular conspiracy theory behind the John F. Kennedy assassination and 9/11. The moon hoax is so popular because "it doesn't really matter, so it's OK to believe it," he said. People believe the hoax because they can protest the government without any real political convictions.

Third place to 911 and Kennedy :Kewl

Okay so CNN only says 6%

"A 1999 Gallup poll found that a scant 6 percent of Americans doubted the Apollo 11 moon landing happened, "

With all the (evidence) there is supporting the moon landing as a hoax, im not too sure what to believe myself.Maybe they did land and do their job.
maybe they did land, see Aliens and scarper.
or maybe it was a big space race power struggle and the only way to win was to fake it in some desert.
Will we ever truely know, "i doubt it"
it just seems strange how they never went back.

Although I am not insinuating that this is your intention, I do feel that the notion that we somehow needed to forge a Lunar landing in order to win the "Space Race" is very insulting and disingenuous to the many individuals who worked so hard, and sacrificed so much, in order to make it all possible. Men quite literally died to make Apollo 11 a reality, and I would feel quite saddened and enormously offended to somehow believe that people do not believe in the successful outcome brought about through their amazing bravery.

The reason we never went back to the Moon has to deal first and foremost with the budget cuts brought about through Congress, which was a result of their flawed ideology that Americans were simply not interested in Lunar exploration anymore. As a result of this, much of the NASA talent went on towards other ventures, and eventually many of those who made the Apollo landings possible retired and/or passed away. Welcome to a Bureaucracy!

Here's one of Armstrong working near the LM:

Yes, that's one of those really clever pictures where he is standing in a shadow yet he is lit up like a christmas tree!

Wow, just love how NASA has those amazing cameras!! Perhaps that is why 25% of the people polled said it was a hoax

oh and Weedy, you said to Zorgon

"...your apparent schizophrenic comments...

I hope (in your own words) that is not "armchair psychiatry"??? hehehehe...people in glass houses...

I used to believe it was a hoax too. Then I found this site and started to read up on the topic and it didn't take long to debunk 100% of my dellusions. Since that I haven't seen anything to convince me otherwise.

I believe it is a hoax...it was a space race back then..Of course we wanted to be the first there over Russia or China. Honestly the way NASA is now its so unimpressive and boring...These space flights we see today are just simply lift offs...There hasn't been a moon trip in decades (if we went at all) and why havent we been back since?

I'm sure we had the technology to go to the moon at the time but I honestly feel like because we wanted to be the first to the moon- it was staged. Either way- we're still the only country to go to the moon. I've also wondered why other countries haven't tried...which can lead to the conspiracy zone. Also- I distincly remember how offended Armstrong got that comment ("did we go to the moon") and he seemed extremely nervous and anxious.

Whats stopping the other countries of the world from going to the moon now? Clearly something...NASA is known for its lies- it really wouldn't surprise me. NASA cuts out portions of pictures of the moon and covers them up with square blotches...I'm sure that also is affecting our moon visit seeing as how no-one really knows what or who could be up there....

Landing? what landing. I was quite young when that happened ON TV. Armstrong has suffered most I think. But I can understand, that at the time the Soviets broke through a bunch of unexpected orbital barriers and some Country had to show them we'll land on the Moon first. "Not because it's easy, but because it's hard". Pitty.

most of the videos where shot here on earth... Remember NASA recreated the landing site here on earth................for training purposes?????ummmmmmmmmm sounds fishy.. That does not mean we never went there.... it just means we saw a very expensive movie lol and the real video was never shown to us......but why??? maybe because NASA doesnt want us to know whats really up there?

or the 75% watching the History channel which is owned by the Hearst corporation which actually coined the term yellow journalism arent the smartest... remember kids the smartest people arent a majority...just look at the current wealth accumulation..... its definetly not 75% of the population!!!
what was it last 5%? and i truly beleive most of the people that are able to keep wealth and grow it are highly intelligent people.... And I highly doubt watching the History channel, discovery, cnbc and other junk media had anything to do with it... It probably had more to do with independent thinking and following the road less traveled... and by the way I know many very wealthy people that most certainly think outside the box... and watch youtube for education..... I rarely see them turn on the History channel... (because its such a reputable channel just look at the whole 2012 nonsense its spouting)
What the hell does 2012 have to do with History..??? oh Hearst your at it again lol Always question everything and do your own research and I hope this post puts things in more perspective and shows you that just because your in majority doesn't make you intelligent or better or more logical... all it does show is that you are in fact following the herd being a sheep that likes to follow the sheep and nothing more .... When you decide to think for yourself AND QUESTION EVERYTHING this is the point where you will break away from the sheep.... This is the point where the source of the information does not matter so much ...... but rather you confirming\debunking the information yourself without being spoofed the information like a baby that doesn't question what he eats...

I remember watching the moon landing as a kid with my folks. Of course it a time when the whole world stood still. We were in awe. My dad was in awe.
But Dad had a little brother who flew the Blackbird. so everytime we would all gather at grandma's hose for holidays, Dad would needle his brother by declaring the moon landing was filmed on some backlot in Hollywood. My uncle would get mad, Dad would be smug.
But ever since then I'd been on the fence. Now I think maybe Mitchell is the one telling the truth: It wasn't that we went there, it was what we found there that's covered up. Damn his eyes......so Mitchell, spill! You're spilling other beans, spill these!

Imagine what percentage that would have been if they'd been asking an American audience, eh?

I need to find that video that has Americans failing to identify the location of their own country on a map...

There are stupid asses in every country on earth. You europeans arent any smarter than anyone else, and some of you are arrogant as hell. You call americans arrogant but some of ya'll are so arrogant and stuck up.

No one country is better or smarter than any other country.

I dont know any american that couldnt point out the states on a map. Thats absurd, even my young daughter who hasnt even started school could do that.

Also I hope you know those vids are edited. They only show the dumb responses. I bet out of every 100 people 75 of them answer correct.

And btw there are plenty of "stupid european" vids on youtube too. My point is these videos prove nothing, just like every other vid on youtube.

Peace
