For decades, cattle farmers around his world have been plagued by a problem, a problem that is as inexplicable as it is horrifying. This horrible
phenomenon is known as Cattle Mutilations.
Standing for more then just a massive financial loss of livestock for farmers around the globe, these grizzly actions of cruelty may have a purpose,
but like those behind these events, they are cloaked in shadows.
The majority of these strange events occur in the United States (Particularly in New Mexico), however these events have been happening all around the
globe including places like Canada, Puerto Rico and South America.
Specifics
The specific details of these cases vary greatly from one to another, but there are enough commonalties to suggest that an orchestrated program of
sorts is in motion.
More often then not the bodies are found mutilated and completely drained of blood. Missing organs have been removed with cell level precision, with
the corpse often appearing to be cauterised.
Those responsible seem to show a keen interest in the sensory organs such as the eyes but usually only one eye is missing, the reproductive system,
the anterior digestive tract and the cattle’s defacatory system.
It is estimated that over ten thousand cattle have died this way, and resulting in this several theories have sprung up about this disturbing
trend.
Strange Facts
Commonly there are no marks found on the cattle’s bodies with the exception of a few triangle pointed marks and in some cases clamp marks. These
clamp marks may suggest that the mutilations take place somewhere else other then the field in which they are found.
The strange thing about this phenomenon is that since the early seventies, the wounds on the cattle have been cauterised, indicating that it must have
been done with something along the lines of a laser cutter, which was not available at that time.
Autopsies in a few well investigated cases revealed the presence of Mescaline, Santonin, and another drug, variably succinyl choline chloride or PCP
in mutilated cattle.
Another strange fact is that even though these cattle were completely drained of all their blood, not one drop is able to be found in the area around
or under the corpse itself, some also might find it strange that when these bodies are returned to there fields, they are completely shunned by other
animals, which means that there must be something so fundamentally wrong with these corpses that even carrion specialists such as vultures, crows and
others along that line will not touch them.
Skeptics Explanations
The common explanation for cattle mutilation is that maggots and normal decay cause it. The theory is that as internal organs rot the corpse will
bloat and then rip in straight lines, allowing maggots and flies to enter and feed on the soft tissue of organs. Maggots are also blamed for neatly
cleaning out soft tissue on the outside, specifically genitalia, eyes, and mucous membranes.
Buzzards are also said to play a role, particularly with the eyes, because if a corpse is on its side, a buzzard’s inability to reach the second eye
might explain that oddity.
Some of the drugs can also be explained.
Santonin was a deworming agent that was discontinued before the phenomenon became popular but still could have been in the possession of some
farmers.
The PCP found in the cattle is not the well-known narcotic (Phencyclidine). It is Pentachlorophenol, which is used both for defoliation and protecting
timber against wood-boring insects. Studies have shown that cattle can be exposed to this through their food because it comes into contact with
treated wood.
Sheriffs in Arkansas were able to recreate similar circumstances on film in less than 48 hours by leaving a cattle carcass in the sun, however only a
visual study of the results was made, without detailed analysis.
Problems with the Explanation
The most obvious problem with the "natural decay" explanation, according to believers, comes in two parts.
1. That if it was natural, cattle ranchers wouldn't think twice about seeing it much less call the police.
2. That the dead cattle would have determinable causes of death.
If old or sick animals were keeling over then turning up covered in maggots and bearing the signs of natural decay which ranchers have no doubt been
seeing for centuries, the story never wouldn't have received so much attention from police, the Humane Society.
This explanation also dismisses the cauterisation as if it had never happened, except in a few cases where lightening strikes are blamed. Believers
note that this would require large concentrations of lightening strikes in short periods of time for the most active spots. The explanation also
attributes a high level of precesision to the work of scavengers, even though scavengers are never found still feeding on the carcass, even in cases
where many components are still intact.
Though some of the drugs could be explained, mescaline and succinyl choline chloride is trickier. The later is used to kill hogs, and obviously
ranchers would take some precaution not to have their cows eating it, though it could explain why they were turning up dead if anyone could figure out
how they were getting it.
The former would require the cattle to be living in a drug addicts paradise, with access to a large quantity and variety of assorted mushrooms that
might cause the cattle to test positive for certain component chemicals of Mescaline.
A report by the Fyffe, Alabama Police Department in 1993 found the official explanation after a series of mutilations to be lacking, and called for
the truth rather than "politically correct official explanations" [1].
Cattle Owners Frustration
If dealing with things like predators and rowdy cow tipping young men as well as disease weren't enough, farmers now have to deal with an unknown
sadistic force that simply comes and goes as it pleases without leaving any evidence at all about who is behind this grisly and unknown phenomenon.
