Why don't we just have a post that says, RELIGION: WHAT IS THE ONE TRUE FAITH? And let the fur fly.

I just wanted to point out that the OP started this thread with 2 sentences and it now has over 1,000 replies, amazing. I suppose it was the title that caused this spectacle; 53 page flamefest. Maybe someday I'll actually read it.

Jesus is described as god in the bible, who cares, thats one for xtians to argue about.

As the OP pointed out, the existence of Jesus and the details of His life are the most reliable information we have of any historical event of ancient times.

Woah woah woah woah! Are you really serious about this, I mean you aren't serious are you? Were you at all sheltered as a child? That is about the most bogus thing I have ever heard any christian pull out of their ass.

On top of that, over 300 prophecies predicted the nature of his coming, his life, and his godhood. Statistically, that means He is definitely the predicted Messiah and is God.

Is that number of prophecies 324? "...lets do the math" 324: 3x2=6; 2+4=6; 3+2+4=9 flipped=6 OMG! 666!

All laughs aside over 300 prophecies which have surprisingly been widely accepted by many of the xtian community but I guess when it comes to faith anything is possible especially one liners from ancient text written by mostly uncountable writers are predicting the destiny of your messiah and god. I mean wow, isn't it amazing that everyone in the time of jesus and before him were educated enough to read and write!

And actually I will just end it their. Prove that the education during those times actually reached the common peasant.

Note: don't use the "...they were educated jews because education was mandatory..." without mention who, be specific if you can as far as how they were educated and who.

We're is your evidence for your beliefs. More important Are you share God is behind your beliefs. Life after death is a big gamble and how where you spend it even more.

Prove it again. Just because you say it doesn't make it so. And I believe end the end of times God said that is word would be spread to the end of the earth. Again what you believe has not real credibility.

Again I ask: where is the evidence for YOUR beliefs? And please, come up with something more credible than your bible.

I hear you. I too get pretty tired of hearing the same old Bible quotes again and again, and the constant fighting among the religions across the word. Right now, in Iraq, for all effects and purposes we are fighting a religious war, God against Allah. Don't the religious crowd know yet that this is what the hidden masters want you to do? Haven't you yet come to the conclusion that religions are wholly made up, and that the messiahs that are spoken of around the word are aliens sent here to do a job? We are an experiment, people, plain and simple. Do you think for a second that if there was a real God, that he would in fact write a book that can be easily altered according to the agendas of the day? How can you hold up a new Bible and say "this is the word of God?" when you actually know better, you know that the book has been altered many times, and much was lost in the many translations over the years? How many characters like Jesus were there in those days? My information tells me there was at least three more, all from the same mold. the masters were really upset when Jesus was killed. He was sent here to correct mistakes in religious fever and dogma, and they killed him for his efforts. and his name was not Jesus Christ, it was perhaps Jesuah bin Joseph. He was not tanned to a nice shade, he was black as coal, like everyone from that area. His hair and beard was not blond, or brown, it was black and kinky.

But don't take to heart my words, dear Christian, keep on believing like you do, that is what they want you to do. Nothing wrong with what you do, excepting perhaps trying to convert me and others who know better. My advice? Get yourself an old Bible, and read it, every word. When the text says, "God" or "Jesus," substitute the word extraterrestrial.

The risen and ascended Christ said the devil keeps the unbeliever in Spiritual blindness and darkness. In Acts 26:18 Christ said to Saul of Tarsus, “I am sending you to them to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”

The Apostle Paul said that the devil blinds the minds of unbelievers. In 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 he said, “If our gospel be hid, it is hid to those who are lost (unbelievers): in whom the god of this world (the devil) has blinded the minds of them who do not believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine upon them.”

The Bible in Ephesians 2: 1-3 describes what any believer was like before he experienced the saving grace of God. “You were Spiritually dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and the ruler of the kingdom of the air (the devil), the spirit (the devil) who is now at work in those who are disobedient — gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts.” Only the power and love and mercy of God in Christ could deliver us by the gift of saving faith.

Jesus said the devil attempts to remove the truth of God’s word and the saving good news of Jesus Christ out of the memory of an unsaved person after he hears it or reads it. He said Matthew 13:19, “When anyone hears the message of the kingdom and does not understand it, the devil comes and snatches away what was sown in the heart.”

The above simple Scripture passages inform us that there is a powerful and deceitful enemy, the devil, who opposes and stands in the way of every unbeliever who would turn to Jesus Christ. But the devil’s power is limited and you can be set free. Here is God good news. First John 3:8 says, “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of he devil.” Hebrews 2:14-15 reads, “Jesus became flesh so that by his death on the cross and the resurrection he might destroy the devil, who holds the power of death, and free those who all their lives were held in slavery.” Referring to His death on the cross and the resurrection, Jesus said, “The prince of this world (the devil) stands condemned.” Romans 1:16 says, “The Gospel (the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ) is the power of God to deliver, set free, rescue and save everyone that believes.”

I don't know where you got your "info" but you are misinformed when you state that Jesus never claimed to be anything more than a man.

"'I tell you the truth,' Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I am!'" (John 8:58).

"I and the Father are one" (John 10:30).

I could give a hundred scriptures where His apostles faithfully recorded His words to show you that Jesus Christ was much much more than just a man. And He did say He was "the way the truth and the life" and that no man cometh to the Father except thru Him. Now if you want to take a roll of the dice and try another route it certainly isn't for me to judge, but Jesus warned us to take the narrow road, in other words if it ain't broke don't fix it.

How does anyone know exactly the words he spoke? Nothing was written down until he had been dead for some off 70 years, and I'll tell you, I am 55 and my memory is not so good anymore. Remembering back that far and writing down exactly what he said is a stretch of the imagination, to be sure. And what of the writings was before the Bible, like the Sumerian Texts, and the Mayan Codex? Burned as being "pagan," or so thoroughly debunked and discredited so it means nothing now. Destroy everything not Bible and force religion at the point of a sword. Can you imagine, just for a minute, what we could find out about the end of days if we had all these ancient writings?
I often have Christians tell me that the Bible is "inspired by God." OK, I'll buy that for a second....but wait, we have a great God here, and he inspires but one book? Something wrong with that. Still think the Pyramids were built by Jewish slaves, rolling those multi ton stones up ramps over a thousand years or so? Even today, with all of our modern construction equipment, it would take a whole day to move just one stone?

Remember those ant farms? Suppose one day you had one, and walked by it, and an ant spoke to you and said, "what is going on" "What is my purpose here?" Are you going to tell him? Are you going to say I could just pick up this world of yours and destroy it with a simple shake? What would you do?

There is a great big universe out there, and there are many species out there, we are not alone, and never have been alone. The world we live in is a created one, and electronic-magnetic field that is our reality. We have been manipulated many times to upgrade our "containers." (human bodies) Our government lies to us on a daily basis about everything. Rarely we are told the whole truth. We haven't been told (by gov) anything about the coming magnetic pole shift, or that we are being manipulated by extraterrestrials. We haven't been told a thing about deep underground military bases manned by aliens and solders. We have religion to convince us all that we are not immortal, but have only one life to come to Jesus or else, and to label anything of an extraterrestrial origin to be "Satan and his Fallen Angels, or Demons from Hell"
If, on a bright sunny Sunday morning a spacecraft sat down in a church yard, and a little guy came walking down the ramp...he would quickly be filled with bullets by good meaning Christians. Religion does have a purpose, but the purpose has a sinister agenda.
Our only hope is to realize what we are, and gain all the knowledge we need to know, and escape this world and it's control. When the Earth turns, and billions die at once, I am going to try to escape, me and a few others who are like me in thoughts and theories. May I suggest we all go at once? Its not much that God demands blood sacrifices. Remember because sin you would die and go to hell for those sins. Jesus chose to save us from those sins. In order to do that he had to give the aliment love for others. Which would be to lie down one life for others. I don't even think it has to do with the blood. It has to do love and which one will do for all.

Tell me something do you have to kill to get into heaven??? No you Dont. Does Christiantiy or new testament demand that you kill your self or others to get into heaven. You miss the point to why Jesus did what he did what he had to do for the better of the kingdom. You miss the gift that God gave.

If you talking weather Jesus Is God or is divine. I personal believe Jesus is the Son of God, the perfect manifestion of God. But I do not believe Jesus is God. Jesus gets his power from God. Jesus prays and talks to God. Jesus was sent by God to do God will and not his own. But Jesus is divine.

No, as I said, I wouldn't believe anymore. It'd be pointless. The "point" of Jesus' story wouldn't be there anymore. I wouldn't start interpreting the Bible allegorically either. It would be a fraud and worthless if Christianity could be proven false.

What are these "challenges" that you're referring to?

Well, the Earth being an orb floating in space, not being the center of the universe, etc. Those seem silly to us today, but there was a time when these were fundamental Christian doctrines. Once it became clear that the Earth was, in fact, not at the center of the universe, that bit just disappeared from the doctrine.

Really, I have never heard that before could you please provide the link to the place in the Bible that states the Earth is the center of the universe? New or Old Testament, it's your call.

All i know is it's best to avoid prayer. Never call attention to yourself. Cruel sadist that this supernatural being is Your answer will be in the form of a canker sore, pancreatic cancer,etc. Never before have I come across a group as self righteous and humorless. Face it the interesting people will be in hell. But stay below the radar people.

I wouldn't mind debating this with someone sometime using reason and logic. But that's not going to happen. All your goiong to get is quotations from a printed page that they consider to be, "the word of God". I don't mind it so much until it becomes so ridiculous you have to say something. Like when someone comes out and says, "Jesus Christ is the only way". That is so crazy I loose all respect for those who try to push off that insanity on others.

Want to know how to spot a phony religion? It boils down to force. When a religion employs force there is no truth. Because truth does not have to be enforced. Where you find one , you will not find the other. So beware of those who say theirs is the only way, or you'll burn in hell if you unless you believe my way. It is force.

Those who who go around saying, "jesus is the only way" are ignorant of the role the church played in the dark ages of Europe during the inquision where people were burned alive for being "witches". This is one of those dark marks against man that can be traced back to the same intolerance that is being done with the "jesus is the only way" crowd". MOF it's so true if you just replace the wods "jesus christ with the words, "the church" you have a carbon copy of what caused the insane dark ages. Indeed, "the church is the only way" was the battle cry.

IMHO, the church, and the jesus christ are distractions which stand in the way of my immortality. "To lay in the path of, to accuse, to decieve"are what I find in the church and the christ. Not suprisingly, these are the same words used to describe the Satan.
