Strange as it may seem, the Earth’s atmosphere rings out in a chorus of frequencies just below the reach of the human ear. Although we cannot hear these “infrasonic” waves — which have frequencies ranging from 0.01–10 Hz — we know they exist from acoustic recordings around the globe. About ten years ago, however, researchers discovered another type of infrasonic background noise of 3-7 mHz believed to originate from the solid Earth itself.

I've been reading ATS for awhile and my previous account was deleted i guess for not using it. I'm curious about what people from ATS would like to theorize this is. I found it interested considering a post a few days ago about a strange uplifting in a region suggested to be a "ancient landslide."

All of this sits in the back of my mind, as someone who tends to be skeptical i can't help but think there is a "telus" so to speak to all of this.

well regardless of wether or not anyone chooses to believe this
my reiki teacher recently told e the human vibrational rate is raising and has been over the past week or so...and apparently is set to keep on increasing until yes 2012..
I not sure how relatbe it is to this topic but it may have something to do with it..
y teacher also said the rise in vibration can attribute to confusion or out of place-ness in your life currently and after being told that I realized i have had a stressful confusing past couple od days...

I remember watching an episode of "Unsolved mysteries" about 10+ years ago about a guy(and other people) who could hear a hum coming from the earth that they couldn't get rid and was driving them crazy.I couldn't find the episode but it could be called Taos hum.Same thing?

I would have to assume this has to do with magnatism and naturally generated electrical sources.

I would assume that other active geological planets would generate audio emissions as well however the fact that they are just below the human threshold to hear is both convienent and appreciated.

Loving the replies, i like the electrical influence theory as it seems these "hums" are mostly based around developed countries. I'd be interested to know the magnitude in less developed countries.

I would be betting on HAARP. Maybe that is why the dogs were all barking last night., all night long.
Also, during the day, the clouds have that ripple pattern that indicates that Haarp is having an influence on them. Maybe that's why its been so hot. They're frying us. It's been 105 for 2 days now.

Perhaps like a rife machine the increasing vibrations will end up destroying all that is bad in our bodies. Perhaps even evil can be destroyed at the right frequency. Wouldn't that be something? All the evil is destroyed just through the vibrational patterns of the earth. Those with the most evil end up dying just as happens when a disease is ridden from the body to quickly (aptosis?)

The war is on. Evil vs. the Earth itself.

The Earth itself exhibits a charge, around 100 volts per square metre on a hot dry day, so for it to give off some sort of auidible noise wouldn't surprise me much. however, i would like to know why we haven't heard it before, but now can?

Maybe it has increased? Been pretty warm where I live for the past week or so, could this have upped the current?

This sounds just like the things that Tesla was investigating. It might even be the foundation for his idea of wireless electricity.
I wonder if the theory of antigravity made with a rapidly-rotating high power magnetic field could be based on this natural phenomenon?

If it is the actual earth emitting the sounds, could this possibly be used a self defence mechanism. Such that if the planet was in serious peril it would turn up that hum to one that will be agonizing to humans or whatever was causing it harm, (not a bad movie idea).

Yoga claims that the first sound in the universum is OHM (sounds like AUHHHHMMMM) Really nice to use as a mantra, you can feel the sound resonating in your head and chest. Repeating this daily it will do very good stuff for your body, mind and energetic levels.

All life is vibratory in it's natural state. That vibrancy resonates and echos audibly as it permeates the area surrounding it and encompassing it.

When you strike a drum or a piano key or a guitar chord the noise you are hearing is not the noise of the impact itself but that resonating vibrancy that echos the tone of the surrounding woods and metals and things it bounces off of and projects from.

Think of a cask of Rum, Wine or Gognac. The cask itself adds flavor to the brew, and the type of wood and age of the wood is often selected to add flavor to it.

As you go about your day striking things with foot falls and key strokes and turning tires so does every other living thing, even as the wind itself stirs the leaves on trees and other inanimate objects.

All together this creates something referred to as the 'life stream'.

The harder you hit a drum, or a piano key, or a guitar the more the surrounding attached surfaces vibrate the louder the noise.

Your conscious mind filters out much of the background noise associated with day to day life, just as your eyes typically only focus on the things in a picture you want to see.

Sunrise and sunset are the quietest times for the earth because of the magnetic shift in pull that affects the taughtness of the resonating surfaces.

Most people who meditate with any success hear the 'life stream' as they quiet their mind and start filtering out foreground noise and tune in with background noise.

The earth hums and you hum and it's best not to hum songs by Donna Summer in this day and age even though Summer Breezes make me feel fine going through the Jazzma of my miiiiiind, da da da de da da.
