Reporter Feels Mob's Hate in the Holy City

Spit like rain

I found myself herded against a brick wall as they kept on spitting - on my face, my hair, my clothes, my arms.

It was like rain, coming at me from all directions - hitting my recorder, my bag, my shoes, even my glasses.

Big gobs of spit landed on me like heavy raindrops. I could even smell it as it fell on my face.

Somewhere behind me - I didn't see him - a man on a stairway either kicked me in the head or knocked something heavy against me.

Ah, the beauty of religious fundamentalism. We hear so much in the media about how Muslim's treat women etc... but we don't often hear much about other orthodox faiths, or should I say Ultra-Orthodox.

Australian journalist, Anne Barker got to feel the full fury of ultra-orthodox Jews when she made the mistake of going down the wrong street in order to cover a story concerning protests over the opening of a municipal carpark on the Shabbat.

This is a pretty vile example of how some women are treated by the ultra-orthodox in Israel.

This is what religion is, it's ugly its gross.

But everyone keeps shrowding it in Allah's will be done, God is great, Yahwehs will be done. In the name of Jesus Christ. Blah blah blah.

Funny how you can darn near kill someone and say it's for religious faith, but any other reason you'd be in prison with the rest of the psychos.

or if I said I heard a voice calling me to do something, i'd be strapped up and gone, if I said an angel appeared to me from heaven and told me to do something, Ted Haggard would be my best friend and I may possibly be elected president :p

What do you expect? The words "Ultra Orthodox" are just a politically correct way of saying "Ultra Ignorant". Do not expect much from anyone who is associated with the religious tagline "Ultra" anything. Maybe the snuggle Bear for "Ultra Downey"...now with spring time scent!
