[IWWC] The Great Council

As the autumn sun rose over the wooded area, all the leaves completely multi colored, and a gentle breeze blowing; in a rectangular building made of logs, much like a log cabin, with a door at the West end and another across it on the East end, columns lining the sides of the doors and a column in the center, all carved with ornate faces that looked centuries old, there gathered all the Chiefs of the North Atlantic Nations. Every one had at least one representative Chief. The Iroquois, Penebescot , Algonquian, The Muskogean, and many, many others. Every single nation’s leader was present, and the placed was filled beyond capacity. The meeting was being held to form The Great Council Once again.

The Chief who had called the meeting, Spirit Hawk, rose from his chair and began to speak, “I call your attention now to report on my trip to Washington, DC this past week,” he says “It is unfortunate what I have to report. The United States Leaders I have met with were unmoved and have stated that they do not wish to change their position on this matter.” Spirit Hawk continues “It is my position now that all our nations shall form The Great Council once again so we may review all the applications we have received from so many to get into our Nations.” “There are many who wish to leave the Government’s ways behind and join in our ranks in the fight for Earth’s Restoration.” “We will need some of you leaders to meet with others from the southern Nations. We have received information on Groups meeting in areas such as New Mexico, Texas, And Florida,” “these representatives will attend each of these meetings and possibly more in the future. These meetings are to decide how to process these thousands of applications and how to distribute those accepted to best suit our needs.” “Do I have any volunteers?” Nearly all of them stood. That was a noble thing and what was expected of them, however, he needed only five others, among himself, who would go to these Council meetings. Now a new problem was presented: how does he narrow it down. Then he decided. But, first he would speak, "If any of you feel you’d be of better use to your Clan, would you please sit down.” No one sat back down. He knew that they probably would not. It isn’t their way. He then spoke up once again, and said “On a piece of paper, you will write your name, who you represent, and the reason why you should be of the greatest benefit to assist me on this journey. You then will leave it by the drums on your way out.” And he motioned towards the ceremonial drums. Then on he continued, “I will fast for several days until the Ancients speak to me in a vision and show me the five to take.” “In a Week we will have a feast and another meeting and I will announce the five the Ancients have chosen.” “That’s it, meeting is adjourned.” He concluded. He then exited through the door at the west side, without glancing back or shaking hands.

The time to take the warpath has once again come. But, this wasn’t just about Spirit Hawk’s peoples or even the other nations. It was about all of the people and the Earth Mother, who were both in grave danger. Spirit Hawk was shown these things many years ago. And more recently he heard the words, “Now is the time.” The Great Spirit had spoken. He knew what he must do, and he accepted it.
The End.

Bravo, Bravo!!!! A beautiful story my friend. I love the way you describe the scene and can almost smell the air as the chiefs sit and speak of the coming times. Maybe this time they'll win.

I hope you do well in the contest,

wupy

Have you ever wished you were a fly on the wall somewhere? Well I felt like a fly on the wall in a major power meeting. Great job.

Thank you so much; very much appreciated. I know I don't really mention the Indigo thing but, I think of them as very spiritual people and beleive the Native Americans would be included into that category.

Upon reading 'The Great Council', I was reminded of similar meetings which take place every year in Manewaki, Quebec. There, chiefs and shaman gather from all of the Americas to mingle with young people from every walk of life at the request of the great spiritual leader William Commanda.

Such gatherings are no fantasy, as I presume you already know, ldyserenity. The way of the Rainbow warrior will become stronger as time goes by.

Well written.

Sorry I missed your post I just got it, lol. Thank you very much for the compliment! I had actually gotten this story after reading the history of the northeastern native tribes, and it had inspired me to write this. They gave the description of the same kind of meetings that you posted except in a place called the Delaware House. I thought that it'd be a great story.
