Some ODD pictures of the sun today too.
Sunspots, being the manifestation of intense magnetic activity, host secondary phenomena such as coronal loops and reconnection events. Most solar flares and coronal mass ejections originate in magnetically active regions around visible sunspot groupings. Similar phenomena indirectly observed on stars are commonly called starspots and both light and dark spots have been measured.[4]

Good find,
Could it possible be a asteroid ?
There are a LOT flying around out there..
i have no clue my self but am interested in what others think with much much more knowledge than me.

Looks very big to be Mercury In my opinion, compared with the size of the sun. This might tie in with the Jellyfish crop circle thread.

Man, I wish I was an expert. But that's never stopped me before.
Inner Planets July to November 2009
Looking at the above table it looks like its on the wrong side to be Mercury.
Change the title to :'Death IMINENT, Solar Collision MOMENTS AWAY!!!'
THAT should get their attention.

Even if something "hit" the sun, which I know you all aren't saying, wouldn't the sun gobble it up and fry it? Barring that if there were fragments that survived to "rain down," wouldn't it take them a long, long time to get anywhere near us?

I just ran my "STARRY NIGHT" program...Mercury is too far away and below the Sun to be the object in the photos.

Funny to see more talk of 7/7. Strange that on that same day "Knowing" comes out on dvd......a movie in which a solar storm devistates earth.

possible the et's are warning us via crop circles because they also can not interfere because of free will..
Another topic altogether but I feel a link somewhere between...
K back to the real topic..

I am bumping this thread to the top again because I really want to hear from an expert on this, and I want someone to tell me that, "No this is not an undiscovered planetoid that is going to hit the Sun in a few hours.
yea, you've come to the right place for an expert opinion
There are some ringers lurking in the bowels of ATS. If maybe a mikesingh or someone of that caliber comes on here and makes an intelligent post, I am likely to believe them.

Well, the object certainly is shaped funny...almost as if it were "winged" just like Nibiru supposedly is. Just sayin'.

well that puts some things into perspective. The other object is much larger than that. That's kind of scary.
Kinda scary.
The object may be bigger then Merc, it may not be. It depends how close the object is to the camera and such.

Holy Hell! I went to dinner, and took care of a few things, and came back expecting to have an explanation laid out for me.
This thread is on the front page toward the top of the board, and no one has proved it to be anything ordinary. I am beyond shocked.
In fact some of you have showed some pretty compelling evidence that the object is not Mercury, because it isWAY TOO BIG to be Mercury. That is pretty damn scary if you ask me.
What happens if something the size of Jupiter collides with the Sun?
I bet it would be pretty freaking noticeable!

That's nothing, just a piece of the other half of our binary star system returning for another pass like it does every few thousand of years. Nothing will happen though, besides a few hsaken feathers. it is just hte yin to our yang, dark to our light.
But in the words of the NWO.
none of you see that. Pay no attention to the planet behind the curtain.
we now return you to your regularly scheduled conspiracy.

That's really interesting so i'll be following this thread all day.
I wonder if it really is that size or just an effect of the camera.
I think it really depends on which direction this thing is travelling.

It's DEFINITELY Mercury. Stereo consists of TWO spacecraft, both of which orbit the sun, in the same orbital path as Earth. One is called "A" or AHEAD, & is ahead of the earth, and the other is "B" or BEHIND & is behind the Earth. You'll notice that the B spacecraft is the one capturing the images of the object...
Well, a small amount of research will show you this picture, which shows exactly where A, B, Earth, Sun, and Mercury are RIGHT NOW:
stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov...
Yes, from the point of view of B, mercury is traveling from right to left, and is currently on the right side of the sun..... so, yes,
ITS MERCURY!!!!!!!!!
To prove it another way, look at this orbit simulator:
secchi.nrl.navy.mil...
ITS MERCURY!

After enlarging the photo by 400%, I have the following observations:
1. The object appears to be generating its own light, not reflecting the light from the sun.
2. If this were an asteroid or planet, and reflecting the sun's light, at least a portion of it would be in shadow with a fairly clear delineation between "night" and "day". This would be true whether the object was viewed from Earth or either one of the satellites. There does not appear to be a sliver of darkness anywhere that a shadow should be.
3. This object is either absolutely enormous, or it is much closer to Earth's orbit than it appears.
With that being said, I still have no idea what this might be, but I don't think it is Mercury or Venus.
