The Antichrist; Open and Shut Case !

I write this thread due to the fact that everyday, I see a new antichrist thread, .. " I know who the antichrist is " ... antichrist this, antichrist that.

... While people take the book Revelation literaly, it was written while John was in prison, ... in a style known as apocalyptic writing. Using codes, numbers and symbols to relay a message.

..... He was predicting an apocalypse of sorts, or at least thats the way it would have seemed to the christians of the time. The Antichrist has come and gone ..... the antichrist is dead.

.... You see the number 666 translated into greek means, Nero !
... the most vile emperor to have ever lived, .... killed his own mother just as prophecied in the " Ascension of Isaiah " texts. The first persecutor of christians, murderer of apostles Peter and Paul, he would take the wives of his friends, and dine to the sound of prisoners being tortured and put to death. Rome burned under his rule, and at the footsteps of an approaching rebellion, ... committed suicide.

i think it's a numerology link, i don't think it's as simple as "nero is greek for 666"

nero has been treated badly by history, i don't think he was quite "the most vile emperor that ever lived." he wasn't a nice guy but still....emperors tend not to be nice.

come now, where's the fun in that. if you believe the bible you're not going to believe revelations was referring to the roman empire or nero or anything else in history because, obviously, the world didn't end, there was no ultimate battle between good and evil and we're still here.

Anti-Christ means instead of Christ, doesnt it ?

The number of the beast, that john is speaking of was figured with pebbles used for casting lots over inheritance. In the Greek it says, "let him pebble the number". Again this was used for casting lots. It reads 600, 60, and 6. This is the number of men returning from babylon, under "Adonijah" or "Son of God".

He also wasn't writing in codes. He was literally describing everything he is seeing. The word would contain no truth if written in code. People turn it to code, but it is clear. Their is a problem however, in that people have stopped searching their own hearts for flaws, but because evil generates out of the hearts of men, evil must be hidden, so instead of see who the "anti-anointed" is for simply what it says, that their is no name next to it, that it is describing an action, not a man, nor an imaginary being, but a will....a will to die and take all that is in your name with you to be buried and never recalled to the lips of the "living god of hosts" who says "ALL SOULS ARE MINE"...."I create evil and I form light, I alone do all these things."

Add no more to Revelation or it will add it back to you....John which means "beloved", is not speaking in code here. He literally means don't add your twist to it, don't make it into more things that must become to fulfill, see what it is.....

No, I dont know the antichrist, personally, but its all here, in black and white.

.... What seems more likely to you ?? .... John writing about four legged, multi-eyed, four headed creatures in a distant future ?? .... or ... John writing about current political events in a secretive fashion to undermine the powers that be ????

.... The very book of Revelation is written in Greek !!!! not hebrew. Hence, the number must be translated to greek. 666 = Nero.

.... The preterist theory acknowledges that events of the apocalypse took place in the first century.

Who do you guys think wrote the biblical books?

I see these threads pop up from time to time; Nero = 666, but so do a lot of other names. My question is this: If the Book of Revelation is about history rather than the future, at what point did Jesus return to earth as the ruler of the world?

Some Christians believe that Chapters 19 and 20 deal with the judgement and then the 1000 year reign of Jesus before the new heaven and new earth. I bookmarked your link for further study.
