the main problem is the inconvenience involved with finding a field to write their messages in
but in all seriousness i would think that if those squiggles were representative of alien letters, then they would repeat every now and then. i looked and didnt see anything ever repeat making it hard to believe those each are letters. maybe each symbol is a word, but still the lack of repeating...its a lot of symbols to not repeat even once.
