US Senators vow help for Iran dissidents

rawstory.com

US Senators bluntly charged Thursday that Iran's presidential vote was rigged and vowed to help the opposition defeat curbs on news and the social networking Internet sites it has used to organize.

"The truth is, this election was rigged and the people in Iran are trying to speak out, and we need to help them," Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said amid deep shock and anger in Washington at the deadly post-election turmoil.

The US government is putting it's nose in business that is none of it's own. We reall should not be aiding or abedding any party of the Iranian internal conflict. I personally think we should enact the old "lassez faire" policy from almost a century ago.

If these statements and the current actions of our government do not open peoples eyes to the true beast our government has become, I do not know what will. The Iranian issue is not ours.

The Iranian government was right in their past accusations of the US attempting regime change. This is not the first time the US has had it's hand in the kitty of Iranian affairs.

We have enough problems here. We have no business taking on other nations problems at this time.

So they vow to help the dissenters in Iran, but label constitution focused groups, politicans, and even our own veterans as "potential terrorists" because they don't necessarily agree with Bush or Obama?

Oh, the irony.

All the more reason to tell the Federal Government and the banksters to go straight to hell. This kind of hipocracy just boils my blood. It is not possible to spread freedom abroad while simultaneously and systematically abolishing it at home. Furthermore no one but a select few in the employ of the Federal Government can claim any such moral superiority as to condemn the actions of another regime, at this point, even with due merit.

I'm a lurker ATSian but a dedicated one none the less. i had to post my thoughts on this as it's starting to bug the hell out of me.

I love how the US (govenment) can make such a statement: it wasn't that long ago a man named Bush became leader without winning an election.

I also love how the US talk of helping the protesters when protesters (within US soil) don't receive any help when demonstrating against things, such as the $billion bailout, not going to war (wither of them)... the list goes on i believe.

Why can't the US (and Britain) stay out of other people's back yards? you want to help corruption and unfair democracy? sort your own country out first, then look into what's going on in Africa and then... then maybe make that dictator step and go in for the kill on a country that has Oil and isn't afraid of your playground bully tactics.

Why are we so plainly forgetting Bush becoming President illegally and why are we forgetting that the westrn world publics demonstations are never acted on and helped by the people who are craving to help the Iranian protesters?

I am not necessarily in favour of the ruling Iranian government, nor am i saying that the elections were fair/unfair - i don't have facts to make such an assumption. what i do know is this is not our business.

money-hungry hypocrites running this side of the world

Very well said.

They're crying about the injustice of the election in Iran while labeling millions of Americans "potential terrorists", drafting a 106 billion dollar military spending bill, and literally handing our country over to a banking conglomerate.

Where is our truth? Where is our justice?

All i needed to see was Lindsay Graham...and it speaks for itself. He's a low life piece of trash with no belief system..another neo-con piece of garbage.

If he wants another war..in yet ANOTHER COUNTRY...then we should send his ass alone and he can carry a little USA flag and see how well the Iranian Protesters want him there.

Tool.

I'm sick and tired of all the GD war and spending BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why aren't any of you? CRIPES.
