Vanhanen Denies Campaign Finance Cover-Up

Speaking to reporters at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport as he returned from a trip to Athens on Monday, Vanhanen said it was unreasonable that he be forced to explain in detail events from two years ago.

The premier charged the media and the political opposition with intentionally blowing up and sowing confusion about the campaign financing issue.

His comments came as a new poll showed growing dissatisfaction with his government and his party.
