Carter warns US and Israel on collision course

Israel is headed for a clash with main ally the United States over the issue of Jewish settlements, former US president Jimmy Carter said in an interview on Sunday.
Asked by the liberal Haaretz newspaper whether the Jewish state was looking at a "head-on collision" with the United States if it doesn't comply with Washington's demands, Carter said "Yes."

Is Israel getting more cocky in its attitude to what it can do?

We all know Israel has been the way it has with having the US
stood behind it,but now it seems Israel thinks it can stand on its own.
Not a wise way of thinking being the least liked country by those in the middle east.

Do you think the US has now realized it may have been wrong itself to have backed them as often as they have?
Maybe leaving them to do there own way may have had them come unstuck and to have lost some of that cockyness?

Let me make it clear I do not want this kind of hatred view put here.
If you can not conduct yourself with a mature attitude when replying then stay away.Talking/debating or giving ones view of something does not have to be done in the gutter.

I'm pretty sure israel is the most hated country in not just the Middle East, but the world.

I mean, even Iran and North Korea have a few backers, and who hates them besides the US, israel, and maybe England.

Israel is hated nearly world wide and has broken countless treaties and UN Resolutions, they have no respect for the rest of the world, why would they get it in return?

The United Nations have claimed all settlements post 1967 illegal and called for the cessation of all new illegal settlements.

Needless to say, they gave the bird and continued on their way.

They need to realize now is the time for World Peace, not just peace for israel!

Well Netanyahu is going to give his huge and *important* speech tonight...i can already see threads popping up everywhere on ATS i don't know what he will say...but i sense it will be a one finger salute to the USA,course it wont really be.Just a diversion tactic,but who knows...maybe some of the powers in America are finally waking up and realising what the romans did before them when it comes to empires.

2nd that. Hatred is the vocabulary of idiots.

If the US is serious about ending its dependence on "foreign oil" (as it needs to, for its own economic and strategic security), Israel faces the prospect of a future wherein its major ally is no longer able to bully Israel's enimies.

As the US's influence in the mideast wanes, Israel will have to learn how to live in peace with her neighbors...Or be destroyed by them.


A hard lesson to learn in a short period of time.

The collision course will not be with the U.S. but with the Obama Administration. Just because Obama believes one way does not mean that the rest of the population in the U.S. buys what he is saying.

If the survival of Israel is in the balance all bets are off of what Israel as a Nation will do because I believe Israel will strike at anyone or any country that has the intentions of the distruction of their God Given Nation.

Personally I might enjoy believing that the United States is not turning its' back on the Israeli nation, now that Obama is in charge.

God told Jacob, [Israel] "I will bless those that bless you, and curse those who curse you.." The people in this country used to believe in the preservation of the nation of God. With respect to the latter.

In times of economic stress and, "pressures" coming upon the race from all directions; all because of the agenda of individuals interested only in preserving their power above the masses.

People are running away from, "what is" rather than to it. It's the nation of Israel itself I love and respect. I'm not completely sure about the leadership.

The NWO would have its' influences there. It's really only the masses of the worlds populous that is suppose to count; and not the leaders which are suppose to be servents of these masses. I am an American.. I whole-heartedly support Israel..

Well with Obama's policies he wants to enact I'm sure Israel will welcome the arms makers to their country. That is the only "aid" we give them is weapons.

Obama is doing a good job of the weapons makers to seek other places to conduct business. Yea, we are on a collision course right now, but everybody forgets Israel has a well trained army.

They will be fine by themselves. The only thing the US does is hold them back. Nobody looks at it from that stance though, lots of people only see Israel as evil and this and that.

All this talk of modern Israel being "G-d's chosen people" is ridiculous. I've researched the facts and came to the raw conclusion that the edomites living in the land of mordern Israel are NOT in fact Israelites, from the tribes of Israel. You can read this link and face facts too:

It's going to be hard for some people to swallow but its the raw truth.

My opinion on this thread, I am glad Obama is taking a non-bias approach to the middle-east situation. Maybe, just MAYBE with lady luck the US is preparing itself to tell the Israel lobby to shove it deep. I agree with with a post above said, it is time for world peace, not just Israel-"Jewish" flavored peace. Go Obama, go.

The problem is that the sum of all of these events that are occurring is the equivelant of someone tying two cats tails together and throwing them across a cloths-line.

The situations are being manipulated in agreement with a world/NWO agenda. The herasy is blaming the other cat..

The USA is the only thing holding Israel back from bombing Iran and completely demolishing the West Bank and Gaza, for the sole purpose of maintaining somewhat of a good stance with us. Sure their lobby is entrenched in American politics but that is the fault of the American citizens for voting for corrupt politicians.

People like you are the problem with the world, always wanting to point the finger of blame at somebody else when you should be looking in the mirror.

Oh and another thing I have friends and family in the Military. And one more thing, The corrupt politicians need to stop the Empire building and go back to our original stance in the world which is trade with all and allies with none.

What Obama is currently doing is crapping on Israel, which like it or not is our ally, and trying to make friends with countries that don't like us very much because of previous said empire building.

I care very much about our troops, but you have to be living in fantasy land to not see this is setting up the main battle ground for WWIII.

I would say Israel has the same hatred towards it as does the US.
Not directed at its people but for what its government does.Yes some do aim it at the peoples of both countries but that's due to their ignorance.

As to the stealing of land for new settlements,well stealing is exactly what it is.
That's where I get annoyed at the Israeli people for not doing more in letting it known they condone whats being done.Some do but it would seem the majority do not.
